Thinking about rebuilding my pinto engine as it needs new valve stem oil seals so while its apart i mite aswell do the full hog. What sort of money would you be chatting? Also would probably get the full kent cam fitted aswell including the oil spray bar etcetc. Any other tips?

Does the rest of the engine need a rebuild ?, the stem seals are very easy to do on this without even removing the head.
If it needs a rebuild, then I'd say defo under £500 for complete new parts/machining.
The pinto cams usually have plenty enough lobe on them that they can be reprofiled, I've used reprofiled cams including on pintos for around 25 years, without any problem.
The advantage to a reprofiled is it is already work hardened metal, and cost, around £50.
The pinto responds exceptionally well to head porting, you might as well also go +90 thou V6(colonge) pistons when it's bored(assuming it's needed) and get near 2.1 litre, run 1 thou extra bore clearance make sit much freer revving, lighten the flywheel, the flywheel is a massively overlooked area that's effectively free power with zero drawback for most.
Depends on how fast can you afford/want to go ?

Id love around 130/140 bhp to be honest wouldnt want/need much more. Nah its running fine bar the stem seals but was just thinking about maybe freshing it up abit or something. Cheers

Stick a fast road cam profile in there, are you injection or carb ?, if carb use a 32/36, add a decent exhaust, guess that's going to be around 115/120, if wanting more you could use a 38DGAS but the head becomes even more of an issue, if std, even keeping std valve sizes and some decent porting, around £300 makes a big improvement.

if your going to rebuild a 2.0l then i strongly advise using the 1.6 head which you can pickup cheap or even a 1.3l head if you can find one but i doubt that will be cheap, as itll increase your compression and give you more power, ive just rebuilt a 1.6l head and put it on a transit 2.0l 202 block pinto with a fr32 kent cam and everything renewed, has alot more response and go but cost me £300 total for head rebuild alone, im still using a vv carb so id imagine with a bit more money spent on decent carbs you would have a good flowing pinto with a decent amount of bhp for every day use, good luck with it

The ideal head to start with is the injection head, std ports are slightly better, so less modding needed, when going for a 2.1 the CR will be raised anyway.
If you are thinking of side draughts, 40's will be too small really you need 45's with 36mm chokes, ideally dellorto DHLA45, a much better carb than the weber DCOE, but forget economy or driveability, will kill low down response due to air speed being so slow through the carb, all depends on what power you want, but if only 130/140 I'd forget the twins.
