ERST,, Totally strip engine bay. Clean up. Replace engine. Rebuild old engine
I'm currently gathering bits before I completely strip the engine bay on my 88 erst. I've bought another bare engine as my head gasket has gone besides the engine I've bought is polished and ported. And fitted with a stage 3 piper cam 😃👍 so I'm replacing the engine but while I'm at it. Planning on stripping the engine bay and giving it a good freshen up.
Then once that's finished I'm planning on rebuilding my old engine
I've never undertook a task of this magnitude 😱 So I'm shitting myself haha
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum
Just take your time, be methodical, pay attention to where everything goes (take pics, label things up etc), having a Haynes manual will help too.
Always lots of help and advice on here if you get stuck too mate.
Oh and before fitting your replacement engine it might be worth dropping the sump and inspecting the shells/crank... nothing worse than fitting an engine only to fire it up and find it's knackered (unless you know it's good of course).

Thanks mate. I got it off a good trustworthy friend of mine who assured me it's a good one and his word is usually good ha ha he's a clever bloke as well and knows quiet a bit.
One thing that's puzzling me. The injectors on my engine that's fitted now. Are loose I can wiggle them when I wiggle the fuel pipes. I'm assuming their not meant to be like that are they

I had this on my old ERST, caused a poor idle amongst other things.
On mine, the plastic sleeves that hold the injector down had gone brittle and started breaking up. But also the retaining clamps had rusted and broken. I just bought a new set of sleeves, o-rings and retainers and it was right as rain.

Can't find the sleeves on thebay, but they can be seen in this pic with the yellowish plastic:
Very simple to replace, I think the injector even stayed on the pipe.
