Default CVH Engine Removal Advise Please

Morning all.
Got to take out my EFI CVH engine, have done it once before as per Haynes manual but has anyone else got any hints or tips to speed job up?
Should I drop engine down to get it out as per Haynes or can I go up?
Head off or on, etc.
Thanks

i find going up easier if you don't want to remove shafts and box etc, just undo all hoses/starter/alternator/radiator/exhaust manifold and turbo and lift the lot out upwards.

Its a Mk4 Escort XR3i EFI.
Had a feeling going up was better, I assume there is room in the engine bay then to slide gearbox away from engine.

you can't really move the gearbox, but the engine will pull away enough once the box is tilted up along with the engine and pulled forwards slightly when also twisting the engine to the fron t alittle.

it can be arsy, but genereally doesn't take more than a few minutes if you're on your own, easier with a friend to twist the engine about to get it aligned though.

one tip would be to remove bonnet completely whilst removing engine as it gets in way of crane etc
