YB runs for 10sec then cuts out- fuel reg problem SORTED!
what changes after 10 sec on a Cossie engine?
I have now noticed a split in the aeromotive fuel regulator membrane leaking fuel into the inlet via the vacuum pipe could this cause poor running as stated?
We wired up the engine today and got it to turn over, it ran really smooth for 10 sec then it died, turned it again it ran then died and so on, any idea?
Std 4x4 with MSD wasted spark and closed loop, Any more info needed I have a project thread to take a look through.
Fuel pump works fine till engine cuts out, fuel is returning to the tank too, there is spark untill it dies so could it be a feed to ECU or coil or something that changes after start up or?? It ran for the exact amount of time each time too so
is it a sensor failure, air leak or what??

How does it idle perfectly for 10 sec then? is this set and parameters change after that you think?
it cant b the base idle though as the ecu worked fine on my car

I have now found a fuel leak into the inlet via vacuum pipe-could this cause engine to cut?

If the diaphragm has split and is leaking, then you'll have very little fuel pressure, so yeah I'd have thought that this was a plausible reason for the engine cutting out quickly.

i used to do fuel injection and dianostics and worked on several cosworths. I have had a cossie which started up for couple of seconds then cut out and didnt start. it had spark and had injection pulse, but i fold out later that the injectors was only pulsing couple of times then cutting the power. Unplugged map sensor and it started. MAP sensor was the fault. fitted a new 1 and perfect. also my mates car did the same thing and it was the MAP sensor. If a map sensor or mass air flow sensor is unplugged you can start a car and it will run. if the sensor is damaged like on alfa romeos or vauxhalls which lack power and wont take throttle you can unplug the mass sensor drive the car with them unplugged and if the car drives perfect then u no its the sensor. if its still the same then its not the sensor
