excessive toe out?
just looked at the front wheels om my saff cossie today, there seems to be a lot of toe out, probably nearly an inch, would this cause the steering turn in to be very slow and vauge?the steering has gone very vauge, turn in is v.bad, takes near a third of a turn to get the car to turn in quickly.ill be getting it tracked during the week, just wondering would the toe out cause this?
thanks,
Shane

unfortunately its far from nervous, steering is very unresponsive.hopefully getting the tracking sorted will cure it,dont fancy having to go changing the rack etc if its worn

ur right it will be tracking as long as nothin has suddenly broken underneath, whoever aligns it should soon spot if it has. big toe in will make it very twitchy, and big toe out should cause ur syptoms. if its as bad as u say id be surprised if it registers on the guages before its adjusted. let us know how u get on.

It would squirm like buggery if it really is 1" toe out, jesus that is a lot.
It will be all over the place, might be wise to check track rod ends and bottom arm joints first, if they are worn it will need doing after the repair, so save money and check/repair first.

took it out today down the road for a spin on the new wheels,it does wander an awful lot, very twitchy, but the actual turn-in is very unresponsive, ive tca poly bushes ordered,so itll be getting those,a new set of bridgestone 215/40/16's(cos the monte 225/45's are too big)and getting tracked in the next week or so,so hopefully that lot will improve it.ill keep ye posted anyway.cheers for all the advice
