does anyone know which is the O2 sensor wire on an ofab ecu for a frst as im fitting a turbo timer that needs it connecting,(i havent got a manual yet)

 

It has a Co wire but not and O2 wire

 

the instructions say o2 but it calculates the theotrical a/f value from this o2 sensor voltage,it just says o2 sensor wire

 

Ah right, The FRST doesnt use a lambda sensor and to measure AFR properly you need a wideband lambda sensor

 

im not that fussed about measuring it properly,its just that the turbo timer needs it wired so it can run on auto if its not possible to find this wire i can preset the running time,

 

it need wideband lamda senor to do this dave,and there very expensive,like the one i have on the s1

 

this sensor youve got what does it do,just the turbo timer,will try and pop round tomorrow,might be going to tweeks on sat for some koni adjustables

 

i have that sensor cos i have moniter equipment for my air fuel ratio

 

can i just buy the sensor or will it need some control gear aswell

 

u can buy sensor but it cost over Ł100.00

 

This may be a daft question - but why does a turbo timer need a lambda input?? As the ecu should be trying to keep the AFR constant so what condition would occur to trigger the timer?? Surely, it's just to allow the engine to cool down after a run??

 

Ł does it come with acheque for Ł90, yeh but will it work with just the timer asi need this o2 sensor wire and an earth from the ecu for auto operation,does your timer work on auto

i think this is how the timer gets its information as how hard the car is driven,so it knows how long to run for

The apexi turbo timer monitors AFR. You don't need it to operate the timer, plus the fact, it only accepts a narrow band input, so its about as much use as a cock flavoured lolly pop anyway

 

i know the timer will still work,what daveselwood was asking was he want it to work in auto time so i thought you needed the sensor for that to work

 

nah....auto time usually works off RPM. And i wasn't aiming that at you, was just saying in general like.

My mates actually got one in his Silvia (Jap version of a 200sx) and it seems to give a fairly accurate AFR.....but....its narrow band so its not really accurate enough.

And to summarise, if you have a category 1 alarm a seperate turbo timer is a useless piece of equipment anyway

 

yeah i know what you mean about the alarm,i have to read the instuctions again,you know what i mean it works out the time on how hard its being driven cheers mate

As i said, the Apexi turbo timers monitor AFR.

The O2 wire connects to the output of the lambda sensor, they just label the connection on the ECU end as its common to have the ECU inside the car, therefore easier to access. But as also said, its only a narrow band read out so in terms of accuracy its not very good.
