check in order;
fans are coming on(bridge them make sure they work)
fans are blowing right way(make sure its blowing and not sucking)
blockages in the rad(give it s aflush out)
thermostat(prob best sticking a new one in anyway,only pennies)
last one head gasket(felpro are not the best gasket for a rs turbo,especially a tuned one)
also how hot does it get(forget he gauge they lie ) is it bubbling over or is hoses gettin pressurised badly,the front mount will restrict air around the rad but 2 fans should bring it down i would reckon,fact you mention it goes down when movin prob points towards the ic infront of it,as long as its not boiling over it should be ok

Has the car had white dials fitted? I've seen loads of cars with white dials where the needles have been put back in the wrong place. This makes them over-read and makes it look like the engine is running too hot.

its just cause your stationary, my turbo doesnt read that hot when driving along but when i get into traffic it rises until the fan kicks in then it drops a little then settles in the middle or slightly higher but when i start moving it goes back down again, just check your fans are comming on and blowing in right direction, try a new thermostat?

I know my car isnt an RST but the temp very rarely goes over half, It runs very cool even when thrashing down the M-way. I would try the stat and if its still the same try the water pump and if its still the same after than try the rad and if that doesnt work I havnt got a clue

ive been on the phone to radtec who supplied the intercooler and they said the fans should be mounted on the intercooler not between the rad and the intercooler as mine are
