Default Fiesta Fuel Pump Problem :-(

Hi, my first post may as well get straight to the point

Basically my brothers mk3 1995 fiesta 1.1 LX won't start. Myself and the AA man who looked at it and checked things out on it believe it to be a fuel pump failure.

Now the problem is getting hold of a new fuel pump. No where seems to stock them anymore for this car/model etc.

We believe it's the electric fuel pump that sits in the fuel tank on this model not the mechanical one.

What I was wondering is, would it be be possible to fit a fuel pump from another ford model to this one? This may be easier to get hold of etc.

Any help or info will be much appreciated or if any one has one they can sell to me that would fit would be great.

Cheers

Matt

I can't believe no where stocks the pump..........have you tried Ford themselves?

Is that a HCS engine? And is it Injection or Carbeurettor?

yep ford were the first place I tried so I could get the part no. to try other places. Ford said they no longer did it Then various parts places said they couldn't get hold of one either.

I believe the car is single point injection, but what does HCS stand for?

The car has the big round disc type filter ontop of the throttle body if that helps in identifying what type it is. Unfortunately when I had a look I didn't check whether it was inj or carb so can't be 100%

The AA guy tho said the pump was an electronic one, and also thought that the cars that had mechanical pump were the ones that had a carb.

Cheers

Single point injection is sort of a carb, but will have an electric pump.

Personally if i were you, i would ring another Ford, i refuse to believe a 95 car has unobtainable parts already.......u can still get the pumps for 84-90 RS Turbos.

Most people in Ford dealerships know fuck all, and if that proves to be the case, the easy answer is often "we don't do it anymore"........

ok m8 will try a few other dealers, I know what you mean about them just trying to fob you off so to speak and the guy took ages trying to find the possible one anyway then to say they don't do it. Hopefully he just didn't know how to use the EPC.

Will get back to you,

Cheers

I'll have a look on microcat myself when my PC decides to stop being a gay lord, and see if i can get you a part number so all the spastics in the dealer have to do is try and see if the parts available

ok phoned another ford dealer and they gave me the part number 7102611

And said Ł206 + VAT!

A private parts place I phoned found one for Ł120 + VAT

But still this is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for a fuel pump.

Any chance whether someone can see if the the part number quoted above is the same as any other pumps listed for other models of fiesta or fords.

Ebay are selling lots of pumps listed for fiestas at around Ł25 brand new or less but the part numbers are nothing like the above one. Buying the pump at the above price and labour charge of fitting it will probably amount to the cost he paid for the car!

Any ideas much appreciated

Cheers

go to the breakers! no point buying one new for car of that age. I got intank from my local breakers for Ł20. It's a universal fitment. If you are going to buy new though... try burton power

yeh breakers is definitely next on the list. When you say universal fitment this is what I was wondering.

I'm also thinking at the end of the day it would be cheaper to change the whole tank and pump unit together since I would be able to get all that for cheaper than the price for the new pump no doubt.

anyway will try breakers yards now

That pump looks to be specific to the CFI cars, although i wouldn't of thought its too dis-similar to an XR2i pump etc.....

An AutoData CD is what you need...
