That stack install is the nuts, that is exactly how I would do it, but I would probably go for black to match my gauges, like you have.



My rev counter is well out, the other night it read 6k and the car slowed down, changed gear and it was ok... hmmmmm... 800rpm out then lol. I think that after my boost controller is bought (whatever I go for) I will have to invest in a decent rev counter.

I'm in a state of morning


Looks like my engine is dead.
I had over heating problems which can't be sorted out (well I could use an electric water pump), it because the standard CVH water pump can't flow enough water until the engine is at 1500rpm.

Also the turbo oil return is too small in the block and there is a build up of oil pressure causing oil to blow through the turbo seals and it blows the oil return hose.

And because my ZVH engine is an early build one, the Accralite pistons have a problem, the skirts are to thin and over heat, this causes them to expand and sieze in the bore.


I'm thinking about building a 2.0ltr twin cam Zetec turbo and doing it myself so i know its done right and not hand it to some over charging shonky engine builder.

Adam - It reads ok, not half, it's just about 800 rpm out at the top, and 200 at the bottom

I actually got the car back up and running saturday afternoon.

I'm still going to strip the engine down as i don't know what the problem is.
Could simply be the head gasket


After a long think over the weekend i think i'm going to keep the ZVH engine, sort out the problems and get the car on the road.

I think i will have to take the pistons out and send them away for checking to make sure they are suitable, and send the T34 away for checking just encase that is whats burning all the oil.

 

Right, engine is now fully stripped and its obvious the problems were due to the head gasket failing.

The engine is now going to be fully stripped and cleaned (oil and water mixing leaves a nasty mess )

Over the next few months i will keep you updated on my rebuild.

I take it those copper head gaskets aren't that good then? I was considering getting one for mine but will think again if its caused you problems?

Well mate i'm all for trying new things but perhaps it was just not suited to my set up.
I had the surface of the block and head checked for straightness and suitability for using the copper head gasket but still it never managed to seal.
You have to use a spray on copper cement as well because the copper on its own can not seal.

Unfortunatly it had blown around the oil flow hole and mixed the oil with the water

The engine is out the car now and the head etc is stripped off.

Tonight i plan on taking the sump off, rods and pistons out, crank off etc and giving the block a really heavy clean/degrease over the weekend and start putting it back togeather during next week.

started refitting my suspension, not all parts are in place, just the rear arm and shock, need to fit smaller part that connects the arm and the bar and the connection rod, is it normal if it is shabby and the spring can be wobbled about, mind car is of the floor completely

Hello guys, time for a little update,

Moneys a little tight right now as i'm off on my hols for 3 weeks on tuesday.

Just a quick set of photos so you can see whats going on.


Engine fully striped and cleaned and had a lovely coat of blue












Started to go back togeather, started with the water pump adapter plate.
I made the securing bolts a larger dia to help them clapm a little better



Crank and piston oil spray jets installed.









Crank position sensor



My set of Accralite pistons









My steel Burton (Farndon Engineering) rods, awaiting a new set of circlips before fitting back on to the piston and installation in to the engine










This will probably be my last update until early November now so mid november i hope to have a massive update where the car is back up and running better than ever.
