Small update for my loyal fans

Mainly been working on the brakes this week, didn't get any work done last weekend cos of Nat Day but hopefully with the bank holiday weekend i will be nearly finished.

Heres some pics of the new servo and master cylinder

The brackets took loads of work to get right and i had to make up a small jig to ensure the rod was in exactly the same place as a standrd servo would be.

Also had to get these, a new pair of front braided hoses.
If anyone has ST170 front brakes then please please please don't use Goodridge ERST hoses as the goodridge has 1 long end and 1 short end. The ST170 calipers must have a long end going into the caliper.

Is a Mk5 Fiesta Servo and master cylinder.

They have a smaller diameter which means you get more powerful brakes, plus being of modern design are more responsive.

Had to block off the little clutch fluid outlet as well.

Is easy if your good with a welder and have about a weeks free time .

I had to make a jig up to ensure the brackets were welded in the correct position.
also the studs on the back of the servo are at a different centre to the original, so had to drill new holes and turn the brackets around to get the clearance.
I simply re-bent 3 of the brake pipes but one of them has a large fitting which needed cutting off and replacing with a small fitting and then flairing.

Pedal feels a lot better already and i aint had the engine running so servo is not working.

Hopefully exhaust will get finished tonight/tomorrow and i will get it back up and running.

Hello guys,

Well were do i start.

Me and my girlfriend were really working our little socks off over the weekend to get the car finished and on the Essex RSOC stand at Trax on Sunday.

We got home from work on Friday with our work cut out, we had so much to do but there was no reason we could not achive it, the biggest job was to finish off the down pipe for the exhaust.

Well started working on the car at about 8pm on Friday and we worked right through till 2am Saturday morning.
I was then back up at 5am to get things finished off, nothing really major, just putting it back togeather, fit door mirrors, fit door panels, fit bonnet vents, and give it a quick tidy up ready for its MOT at 9am Saturday morning.

Come 8am all was done and it was time to start the car up and do some final checks, lights all working etc etc.
First flick of the switch it fired up , drove the car back to see what the 6 paddle was like and had a puddle of oil on the floor dam i'd not tightened the turbo oil return hose up ,
So jacked the car up, removed the started and tightened it up , all was well and with about 10 mins to spare.
But oh dear, someone up there really didn't want me to drive the car that day, rear wiper would not work, rev counter packed up, water temp gauge packed up, lost a wheel bolt (which turned up a few hours later) and when i drove the car the battery light was getting brighter and brighter

In the end i had to cut my losses and not drive to the MOT station, i'm such a failure,

I'm so gutted that me and Louise put in so much hard work and hour after hour to get it all ready and stumbled at the very last hurdle.

I will do a major update tonight with a load of photos of the (almost) finished car.

Still i always look on the bright side and i'm sure things happen for a reason, so while i get these bits sorted out i will continue to modify the car.
Oil cooler with remote filter etc to come this week

Thanks for listening.

Matt.

Its a real shame it wasnt done in time mate but as you say everything happens for a reason so keep modding it mate. So very nearly there, will be great when finally on the road.

Hope TRAX was good and you and loo didnt get too sunburnt !

Never mind mate, in the long run its prob better to take ya time and do the car in ya own pace - more haste less speed and all that!

Keep it up anyway dude, we'll both get there in the end.

Quick update as promised.

Started making the new down pipe to fit the T34 turbo, started buy making a tight 90degree bend like this...

I then fabricated most of the pipe on the car and simply tacked it and kept offering it up on the car to check it fitted perfectly.

Then i welded 2 lambda bosses in the exhaust, these went so out of shape i had to buy a tap and re-thread them.

This is the peice of pipe that was flaired out for the connection to the turbo.
It is 2 pieces of pipe, one over the other to create a double layer.
Check out how good my welding is on that

New down pipe fitted.

All my gauges, i don't like the ones in the centre vent panel so i'm looking into a better way of mounting them

Not to sure at the moment, i do like having them there but i don't like loosing the heater vents and the panel they go in is a very poor fit.

I might just get a 3 gauge pod and stick it on the dash and see what it looks like Don't know just yet.

Nearly doen ay....

Do you run any kind of feul accumulator type thingy ... You know usually mounts where you have put your feul filter??

Oh and Why on earth has the alarm fitter put your siren both a. within easy reach / view below the bonnet vent and b. within easy reach from below up the side of the G/Box ... IMO that needs to be moved mate... sorry (unless of course it is siren number 3

Yeah its almost there, a few teething problems but nothing much.

I need to put a flexy in the exhaust before the engine pulls it and cracks a weld or something.

I'm fitting a new Stack rev counter at the moment and i have a electrical problem in my tailgate.

The car is booked in for mapping in 2 weeks and will have its MOT at the same time.
Then a couple of weeks running in and then back for a full mapping session when i hope to turn the boost to 25psi and achive 300hp.

No don't need a fuel acumalator when using EFI, as the pulse through the injector is to quick for the pump pulsing to be a problem.

The alarm fitter put it there coz i told him to, i didn't want him drilling any holes so i made him use some existing holes
I have though about moving it, but that is bottom of the list of things to do at the moment.

Ta for pointing it out though.

No reason why not,

I don't know of any standard EFI equiped cars that used them only the MFI which use the fuel pressure to open and close the injectors and are therefore prone to feeling the fuel pumps pulse.

Not decided yet, i already have the NOS kit but i'm worried it will push my engine to far.

Using it as intercooler spray sounds the best idea to me.

Sold that shonky old 200 yet?

Will be on the road very soon my friend, perhaps this Saturday.
I'm going to book it in for its MOT.

Small update again.

My Stack Tacho

My FSE Valve

My old set of dark green injectors, and my new set of 850cc Siemens injectors

Here they are fitted

I decided the Tacho had to go in the place of the old one, so had to do lots to modify the existing casing to accept the Stack Tacho

Had to block up the old quarter circle and flatten off, then drill an 80mm hole.

With the hole drilled and the filler work complete i gave it a coat of plastic primer

I then gave it a coat of satin black but touched a bit of it by mistake so had to leave it to set and rub it all down then give another coat of paint.

After its second coat of paint i was totally happy with the result.

With all the gauges back in

Just have to put it all back in the dash now and connect the wires up.

I also put a flexi joint in the exhaust yesterday to allow some movement but never got any photos of it.

Matt.
