jeez lad your putting the pressure on me here the only thing that will hold me back is the wiring, i have a growing fear of wiring cars lol, at least i have the old shell, and the pics of dismantling it on my phone, il just view the pics in reverse lol
kieths doing the welding and helping me with the painting etc...... i cant do anymore on it really until i get a welder

your basically 90% done once you have it painted underneath,, just a matter of puting it all back together then!

Superb engine, stronger and more powerful than any production pinto ever produced, despite common misconception its actually very easy to tune etcetc.

With a 2.3 bottom end a guy on the sierra forum made more torque and power than a 2.9 v6. With a full on 16v head and 2.3 bottom end people consistently make more power than the cossy v6, AND its dirt cheap.

They turbo really well too.

Sensible choice in my opinion.

Me and kieth lined up a set of each and they where pretty much the exact same, im going to try to fit them and if they dont leak then ill get something like an omex management and get it mapped to suit the injectors. Atm this is all just theory, its worth a try if nothing else. And with a 4branch and full s/s i should have some form of power lol
Btw what do you mean by impetence?

Well, im thinking cossie injectors because they seem identical and with a real good map i could have a well tuned engine, as said above, theory atm. And what do you mean by changes re. The engine? Lol
Yea sorry about that, my fones always there and i just take pics with it lol. Ill try and remember to tell the sis to bring up her digital camera and get some good pics this weekend

Good stuff,

Thing it mate, as far as i know your ecu isn't particularly mappable, AND bigger injectors will not give you ANY power increase... unless there is a demand for more fuel.

as said above

put a 16v head on and u will have 150-160bhp already then, 4 branch, exhaust, filter, cams, decent management should see 180bhp+ then if your going like me set of carbs or TBs to get you past the 200bhp mark

least you have the twincam box already like so will bolt straight up

oh theres 2 types of injectors low and high impedence, would be worth checking

Hmm i was considering that at a stage, but that would mean getting the power i want too easy lol (im a little awkward) its just i want to keep it 8v and n/a and see how much power i can achieve through that, i want a fast 8v, not a fast 16v or 2.3. As stupid as that may sound id say theres a point to it somewhere lol. Ill just keep on looking into other things that i can do.
Can u get a set of cams for the 8v?
Oh, i think i will look into that as it seems interesting :P, thanks for the info

ahh, good stuff, didn't realise you were prepared to go after market management. In which case the worlds your oyster.... turbo it is

Or, fast road cams, ported head 4-2-1 manifold and tbh thats probably all thats available for the 8v off the shelf... probably 140bhp ish.

Rob,
Fair played. I didnt realise he was doing much engine work on it you see. Everyone to there own and all that, i like pinto's for a reason i do not know i just think there fun to drive and although drinking far more fuel than a twincam and v6 together i think its more about smiles per gallon not miles

Im not sure he is lol, but a fair reason none the less guess every one has preferences. But after stripping a few twin cams, they are pretty meaty where its important. Friend also has a 160,000 mile one that hasn't ever missed a beat, not sure how many pintos would do that

Speak to me about the turbo, what turbos fit, the story about the 5th injector, availibilty of parts, and possible power? Oh and cost?

ok tasty update for ya'll i got my wings on friday so was busy lining them and getting them fitted, finished them up yesterday, welded on and all i also fitted all parts around the front panel to ensure they fitted and lined up nicely, which thankfully they did i also have the 2 quarters, most of the bootlid, some of the engine bay and the 4 door shuts sanded up, almost ready for paint, so i am geting on pretty well if i do say so myself :P
and last night i painted my crossmember and driveshaft peugeot black (same colour as my dturbo) looks really well
i also got some more work done to the engine, i lifted out the cams and tappets and cleaned out all the tappets from oul burnt oil, etc. hopefully this will sort out the 1 or 2 sticky tappets, wont really know until shes fired up lol. i also got the block painted, not really happy with the colour although its growing on me.
my plans now are to send the head away to be polished and ported and new valves+springs etc fitted, and also to get the car ready to paint, should hopefully have it ready or painted this weekend, depends on how i get on and if i get paint, etc sorted out.
now for a few pics
