Project Ka Turbo - Updated - Few Unwanted Mods
Just thought id share my new project with you all. Its my first ford so im learning it all as i go along.
Just a few pics of what state its in now
Ive had it for a few months and am just giving it a quick strip down and rebuild for the time being with full new black interior with buckets and stripped out rear. The engine will be coming out soon as im collecting bits to fit a nice rst engine in there like a few other ppl have done. Ill hopefully be running a frst engine with uprated intercooler, exhaust, t3 turbo and maybe dta management. Gonna take a little while due to working on my own and doing it in my spare time.

Its been a while since my initial post so i thought id update this topic with some more recent pics and hopefully get some feedback. I know its not a major rebuild like most of the topics in this area though.

I doubt it will be at Ford Fair as im still waiting on a GRS rad and more hoses, if it is finished it may be a bit too last minute to take. Maybe finished in time for Trax. If not ill just hang onto it over winter and do some more to it. Probably powdercoated cage and add a nos kit too it for a bit more oomph.
Gearbox is a Ka one. Blakey reckoned it was easier to fit the Ka box onto the cvh with a bit of modding to the starter motor location as the ka one sits on the wrong side of the engine. It bolts straight onto the cvh engine now and uses the existing ka mounts and the hydrolic clutch.

That is one great looking Ka you have there Sy. Hope you don't mind me asking this question and I apologise in advance if I do.
How much has the project cost you so far, minus the price of the Ka?
It's just because this is the exact project i'm doing when I get my car and I just want a rough idea of what to expect. I have been lurking around trying to find stuff out and this and Blakeys topic is helping me understand what im in for. I have everything well planned out though.
Anyway, top car mate. This is the one to rival Blakeys lol! I can't tell you how much I love that car, oh, do you have a spec list I could see?
Thank's in advance.

I think it look's amazing. The pink goes well with the silver. The wheel's look good too, but if it was my car I would go for something that show's off the HiSpec caliper's and disc's.
How much has all the work cost, and was it hard doing all you're own work?
I think you can get a black dash for the Ka from Ford wee-homer, might be wrong though.

looking good mate, gonna be fun cleaning all that though, i have a nightmare just cleaning some shiney bits let alone all the lower engine, especially when the oil breather spits oil out

Cheers guys
I cant really cost everything up but basically ive had the car a year and ive replaced pretty much everything except the actual shell and some of the wiring loom and a few other bits. In the flesh all the metal work is actually more purple than pink but the camera doesnt really let the blue undercoat show but its not a girly shade of pink.
The black dash is just a new one from Ford from the sportka model which have black in as standard. Swapping it was a pain in the ass though.
Hopefully cleaning all the engine and stuff will be pretty easy. I didnt want to have all chrome/stainless as id spend forever polishing. The powdercoating is pretty much wipe clean so hopefully wont be too bad. To have the bits coated cost a few hundred, i could have got it done cheaper by taking it all in at once but i had them done in stages. Rough cost for the beam was about 60-70 to have it stripped and blasted them cleaned up. Then 3 coats of powder one being an undercoat.
Will hopefully have a 6 point cage in there and some more go faster goodies soon. Im also thinking about having GRS do me a chargecooler whilst the rad is being done.

That's great, make sure you keep us updated. I think you're car is going to be mint.
Are you in the KaKlub?
I think i've seen you're car in there before, I visit there every day even though I don't think i'm allowed to, I wish they had like a visitor posting setup. I will be joining it when I get my Ka anyway which will be getting the same treatment as yours.
Keep up the good work.

let me know what ideas you have with the charge cooler coz i need a better one as mine is only single pass, if i could get a 4 pass escort one in im sure id get a load more power even at the same engine spec

ill have a look into it and see what he can do, im not sure what a decent size for a chargecooler is but i reckon i could fit one at least battery shaped/size in there as ive stuck the battery in the boot now.
The one in yours is quiet small isn't it?
