The lower arm joints were bought as a kit from Ford Racing as they are used on the Ka Rally Cars. Normally the bushes are welded in these need grinding out and then the bearings are tacked into the old slots. Ive yet to knock these together as im waiting on a set of second hand arms from a mate to take apart.

Shafts should be fine running standard engine and a chip. You can use fiesta diesel shafts if you want to uprate a little as used in the ka rally championship.
The focus rear brakes were a doddle to fit with only minor grinding needed and some universal goodridge brake lines (use focus handbrake cable). Basically just bolt them on and grind the beam a bit for clearance (i ground a bit off the handbrake cable mounting bracket as i didnt was to damage the coated beam. It was cheaper to fit this practically new setup than rebuild the drums and shoes

If you do go for one the outlet near the battery could do with pointing up about 35 degrees to make the pipe fit neater, also due to my poor communication with Graham i didnt get a pipe for the turbo cooling fitted on the passenger side of the rad which it could do with to neaten the plumbing a little. Im going to ask graham for a small section of 32mm swaged (sp) pipe with a take off welded onto it.

Cheers

The rad was £315 posted and the cooler was about £40 for the 2wd cooler then a further 80 for Lee to cut the old ends off, weld on the new cast items and spray the cooler black.

For the rad get in touch with Graham of GRS http://www.grsmotorsport.co.uk/ There will be about a 5 week wait though.
No not fired up yet, not done anything to it since it was turning on the starter and starting to smoke. Going to do a bit on it this weekend and pray i can fire it up. Im not holding my breath though. I bet Euan's will be finished way before mine lol.

woohoo Cheers Lee.
Dan, the problem was the wiring first off - the injectors had no power, sorted this but it still wouldnt go so i added some fresh fuel and a new crank sensor. This made it run perfect for about 2 seconds but then cut out.
After a quick chat with Blakey he told me to try putting a live to the fuel pump which i did and it burst into life and ran very smoothly! well chuffed with it.
Although there are only like 5 wires to connect up to make it work i got them pretty wrong so ive made a note of where they go which ill add to KaTurbo.co.uk when i get something on there. Very simple though.
Just got to get it back togethor now and then get back in touch with Performance Ford

If you need any help just ask, im sure if if i dont know it, Blakey will!
Best way to start yours will be by getting the engine sat in place in the engine bay. Thats the bulk of it sorted then! When are you hoping to start the conversion?
Rach has decided to put hers on ebay due to just wanting a change, she wants a classic mini next so Mille just has to go
Looking forward to seeing your car in the mag, ive seen pics of it in a few show articles now.
Oh yes, time to get everything back on the car then i can insure, mot and and tax it. Then its off to MotorSport Development for a check/setup and then the sprayers for a quick blow over and polish.

hopefully be sorting crank bearings in nxt week or so then i can start re building the engine, got to fabricate some kind of stand to build it in, shouldnt be too hard! just looks like its gonna take forever when its in bits but once i've got the engine in one piece again it should be fairly simple!
thanks for the offers of the help! will no doubt need some!
hopefully want to have the engine built and in for shows next year but im in no rush i guess! all takes time and needs to bo done properly!
do you have the racing arches you had for mille for sale then? ill have to take bumper off etc so will be time for replacements for me and a spray in a more subtle colour! if so id be very interested in taking them off your hands!
love the euro plates theyre brill!
you keepin it silver then or you changin?

Super, glad its being done properly. Just buy an engine stand from MachineMart, they arent expensive and are good for working on the engine as you can flip them through 360 degrees.
The racing arches that were intended for mille (3 of as one was cracked) will now be going on mine as i had a front one cracked so ill be using both sets to hopefully make one good complete set.
Ka is staying silver for now with the intention of a total colour change in ayear or so if i decide to keep it.

are the bumpers beyond repair? or would they be ok with a bit of plastic welding?
didn't realise machine mart did them, will dig catalogue out later on then!
why dont you have a coloured laquer on top of the silver, like purple to go with rest?

Its only been two days Dan gimme chance lol
Got big plans tomorrow, fit new tapped thermohousing so the temp probe can fit in there. Wire in my one off prototype nitrous throttle switch with throttle position adjustability and build up sequence lights to show how near activation i am. Drive it to the end of my drive and reverse it back again. Tidy all the loom up again get it as far finished as i can for now.
No pics till monday though as Rach is away and taken the camera - Doh!

BIG THANKS to Sy from me. for helping Euan and James at stupid o'clock in the morning (0400am I think) in the rain. Driving from south east Anglia to Scotland in his KA RS Turbo on its maiden drive. (think more testing was needed ) cheers mate.
Keep up the good work

From talks with Blakey and my own opinions i think it was down to a restrictive exhaust (standard bore) causing high pressures in the sump and forcing oil out of the breather pipes leaking it all over the place. Their Ka is very much half done now with the engine in and runnin but it needs better brakes (standard ka at mo) engine checkover and setup and of course a new exhaust system then see how it runs.
Lee cheers mate, it was a pleasure to help out Euan and James to get them home but also put your mind at rest. Brightend up what would have been a very plain evening. Looking forward to my new cooler and charge carrier though now
As for mine, the wiring is now tidied away and its running on its own, drove it about 5 yards out of the garage to make sure everything was working okay. Video to come come shortly of that. I had a nice oil leak too, inside the car from not tightening the oil pressue pipe up on the gauge so the dash is rustproofed now. Getting a few drips of oil from the thermostat hose and turbo water feed (easy to sort) The nitrous switch is in and the controller totally reloomed ready to fit in there too.
Ive bought some more lower front springs for the coilovers (8" rather than 10")
Ive sorted the insurance out today, pretty expensive but its a brill policy with an agreed value. Im sending off the v5 with new details today and hopefully having it ready for mot in two weeks time.

sounds good to me! how much has the insurance stung you for? will the powerflow ive got now be ok for the new engine, its stainless from flexi joint back so id have to get a bend made from the downpipe to there obviously, think its a 2 or 3 inch bore. if not ill just get the pipe to the box made up, should only cost about £50
whats the drop on your coilovers?
those shorter springs would fit the h&r's ive got wouldnt they as they're all a 2" diameter? id like mine lower still
im gonna try and get some racing puma brakes i think for the front on mine.
guess the leaks just give you the push to double check everythings tight in there!

Aint a clue about the drop. low though enough to touch the metal on the back arches against the rubber lol
Providing the exhaust bore is same or larger than fiesta then you should okay, 3" would be good i guess (i have that on mine)
The springs should be no problems to source, i bought gaz ones to match, h&r may sell a range of springs in different sizes and rates.
I wouldnt bother with the racing puma brakes as they dont have any dust seals on the pistons and need new pistons every time they have a brake pad change.
Stick with some massive wilwoods or hi-spec that are made for everyday use.
