Spend "spare cash" on the car not "essential living cash" on stuff you don't need beef.

No point in rushing it to please everyone and fucking yourself up is there, after all, it's your car and you can take as long as you need to

yeah jim ,

got lured into the seedy world of " i need more power than i think "

but when weve sat back and the reality of it is ,

i dont ,

so its going bk together and been build with a good reliable spec in mind

so fully rebuilt bottom end
big wingd and 6 long studs
all new bearings pumps
std rods with new little ends ,
mahle .5 pistons with vco's ( thanks to scs )

grp a or small tbo head gasket

fully built up head , new seals guides , std springs , std exhaust , bd14 fully ported and port matched trumpets

then either a 4x4 plenum with 14mm spacer , or better aftermarket inlet , and something like a gt3071

so roughly cossierich spec allbeit with a bit of porting

should be solid and relaible around the 400 mark ,

Beef. Unless you are going to be a right ol pussy and not run much boost then you will be hard pushed to keep it at around the 400bhp mark. More 450 with ease if you have a midly fettled head

lol cheers rich ,

450 it will be then ,

honestly reliabilty is key lol , but the final output will all depend on what turbo i end up with ,

got my eye on a gt30 ,

just have to wait till some things are paid and shells painted

In RWD setup, 400/400 will be borderline useable in a car as little and light as yours Beef IMO.

Id also keep it sensible, responsive and reliable. I spent yesterday at Brands for some track time. SIDC/MLR/GTR joint day.
The sensible sub 450 cars were out thre all day and frighteningly potent when used effectively. The big bhp cars were in and out like the Okee-Kokie with niggles mate.

I agree, mine's not much bigger and doesn't weigh that much. With near enough no weight over the rear wheels, 350bhp was a handful at times. The new engine will no doubt prove to be the shells limits as a road car....anything above and it shouldn't be on the road

ok folks update as of today 28-2-11

dropped the head of to be acid dipped this morning , and by the time id popped home for me brekky it was dipped and dried ,

big up to max @ romax for the dip ,

anyway , piccs

so with it being nice and clean ,

pulled out a scotchbrite and re buffed the ports and any bearing / lifter faces ,

rhs done

humm lovverly ports lol

time to bust out the valves and guides

attention !!

collets ,spring buckets and spring caps were cleaned before but as they been left sat in a cup for a while , well they got manky again

trusty coffee jar , bottle ov vinegar and 1 hour soak

before

soaked - then bit of wd40 and scotchbrite pad and sore fingers

fuck me i wish i still had an 8v lol

then with that done , the bronze guides took a short stay in the freezer lol ,

and we got out the twins

two precision machined guide drifts for inlet and ex

end has a machined in seat for the head of the guide and a rod up the center so theres 0 damage and distortion

lil bit of graphite on the guide and the went in perfect

inlets done and exhaust all done

dropped the valves back in ,

was just about to start lapping when the fone rang and had to go collect the missus from uni lol , and its was gone 6 , so ill lap them in tomorrow and assemble seals buckets, seals ect tomorrow
