Well...
Back together - going to have a final spanner check tomorrow morning and then it's in with the fluids and fire up time

Well - she's done over 100 miles now and all seems well - going to need a quick map check before Oulton as there are a couple of lean spots now - can only think the freshen up has helped efficiency in places...
Few photos i've just had chance to upload - nothing special
The old vernier pulley - you can see the wear on the edges of the teeth - seeing as i had my brand new verniers left over from my monster engine build - made sense to put one on i thought!
How things looked first thing Thursday morning - all the bits ready, new head gasket, head bolts, gaskets, seals etc. etc.
And i decided to knock a little something up for the oil breather as the original setup was showing its age, hose pulling out, leaking oil etc. etc.
Apologies for me being rubbish with taking pics - but i didn't take any pics between putting the head back on:
And this!
However - all is well, she's up and running and done 100 miles of mixed driving and all appears fine so far

Good stuff getting it back running so quickly!
Interesting to show the wear on the pulley.. unfortunately they all do this, and pretty quickly too!! Best to go for a steel-toothed pulley (with an aluminium centre section if you want)..
Did you baffle that breather plate on the other side?

Not directly baffled - i didn't have time - want to see how it behaves first - what i have done though is reduced the hole size - instead of a 10mm hole all the way through - the hole is 8mm and offset to the top.
I have considered the concept of it oil surging under braking - but with the size of the hole and the angle of the fitting/hose - i imagine it will quickly return.
It's a vast improvement on the original setup - that was pouring smoke out after a short burst of spirited driving!

Well - Oulton Park was awesome!
Car is a true weapon on track - fell in love with it all over again
Was passing Saph Cossies and Focus RS's for fun
Did 35 laps yesterday in 5 lap bursts - found the oil temps to be hitting 120 after 5 laps and then leaking a noticable amount of oil when parked in the pit garage.
I suspect i'll whip the engine out over winter and drop a new set of big end and main bearing shells in and reseal the sump.
Other than that - all is well

Right!
I'll keep this updated as often as i get time - but i'm hoping to have the whole project completed by the end of January at the latest to give me 3 weeks shakedown time prior to a trackday at Beford in February
The car will be doing plenty of track days/ring trips etc. so there will be a LOT of overengineering
So, we'll start with the progress to date
Picked up a complete ST170 engine and gearbox:
And got myself somewhere suitable to do the work:
And so it begins:
And i finally got what i wanted from it! The block and crank!
Few leftovers
A 'few' boxes have arrived already - i'll get photos as and when i can

Few parcels arrived over the last few days:
Contents include:
Some bits for the engine build:
Some custom ground billet CAT Cams for the new head:
Some RATHER sizeable custom 6pot APs: (see fag packet inside disc!)
And some super lightweight custom offset Compomotive rims for them to live under
Got to say a big thank you to Martin @ Reyland for his time and help with the brakes/rims

Nice numbers with the powerworks setup!
I had picked up the very last powerworks from CFM. All I have left is to get it tuned.
Keep up the great work!!
BTW: What kind of boost are you seeing with the BBK??
