First car I owned and drive the min I passed my test was a modded R5GTT, by 19 I was driving a R5GTT with a RR proven 197bhp@6700rpm and weighed under 800kg (fibreglass panels etc), so even when I first started driving I needed mentalness to be happy.

Even when I was little I was being driven around in XB Falcons with big block V8s, and V12 Jag XJSs, which prob didnt help, its always taken a lot to scare/entertain me. Thats why I used to do properly ridiculous downhill mountainbike stuff with no helmet or nothing, stuff so daft I wouldnt even dare do today wearing full safety shit.

Had totally stripped 3dr Cossie with 400bhp by 21 (had it since 20, but wasnt as powerful at first), and even that I felt couldve done with more power sometimes. Until it was running greens and 25psi boost my old GTT was faster, it would eat stg1 Cossies alive.

The GTR project spiralled in to stupidness mostly as I was going in friends 650bhp GTRs and not finding them fast enough for me, so needed to do more. I bought the car with 550bhp in mind...

And its only got worse since, as due to my job etc i've lost count of the 500bhp or even 600bhp+ cars ive either driven or been in, been in cars with 1000bhp, done 60 in high 2s or low 3s (i forget), done 197.6mph at brunters, been sideways at over 100mph in various drift cars, etc etc.

And TBH only thing thats ever felt "shit me, this is a bit much, would never get tired of this" is the Dragon RX7, and thats proven to accelerate way way faster than even a Veyron, and due to being RWD and a lot less fancy, is a fucking deathtrap, which of course adds to the entertainment.
Lots of other things have been fun, fantastic, but nothing that shocked/scared me, even tho most people would be screaming. Im immune to it more than most I guess.

I reckon due to the nature of the car, the weight, the RWD, the grip or lack of, 700-750 would take me a LONG time, if ever, to get bored of in the Chaser I reckon.

its amazing the difference a cage can make, when i had the 3dr done, even on its std shite bicycle tyres the thing handled very well lol, and it shouldnt have.

i can jack up the ffront wheel now, and it lifts the rear too, whereas before it wouldnt lol

shows how much stiffer they make the chassis, and mine is only a 6-point bolt in lol

Before I start buying the final bits, we spent most of today trying to figure out where to put the turbo, its such a ballache of mammoth proportions its unbelivable.

If it didnt need any silencers fitted to get on track it would be easy.
If it didnt need an air filter it would be easy.
If it didnt need a decently cold air feed it would be easy.
If I didnt want a passenger seat it would be easy.
If it would never get driven in the wet it would be easy.
If competition rules didnt mean all engine components need to be sealed off by a firewall it would be easy.

But as it is, I need all the above, so its a complete bastard.

Annoying thing is, loads of ways NEARLY work, but nearly isnt enough.

Narrowed it down to two options now, one is more work and probably a pain in the arse at times, and the other is easier but might not perform quite the same. But either will be good enough, so will prob go for the sensible option.

And hopefully tomorrow, unless its poo weather, im too hungover, or have something else to do, ill finish painting the cage too...

So what you thinking of then to solve the above?

Also, projected time scale for the V8 to be up and running?

Looking good!

Very similar setups (its nothing special, its cheap, its just about knowing what bits to do and why) do 725bhp/725lb/ft at 7psi boost, with 650lbft by 2500rpm and over 700bhp till 6500rpm.
Most people with similar setups run more boost (not loads, but 15-20psi) and a more suited turbo (the power and torque above is strangled hugely by the turbo being too "small") and it would give closer to 1k horses and well over 1k on torque, but its not a drag car and im not chasing numbers, full boost the second I touch the throttle, even at 2000rpm, is more fun, its being done to be used.

650-700 bhp+lb/ft, simple, reliable, and nice to drive is all I want as I know thats enough to keep me scared for ages, even though it would do tons more by upping the boost.

very little left of the interesting/useful stuff it had back in the day (before most the interesting people got bored and left and the utter mongos took over).

or maybe because your just the kind of nobhead chiming in with comments like that thinking he knows what hes on about that makes me not bother with this place at all anymore...

maybe silly thought but would it be easier/better wid two smaller turbos that may work up to one the same size. would be better for the space. proberly totally wrong. not experienced with this kind of stuff. but great project. well better than the norm. good luck

always found it really funny how you have the audacity to slag off the internet for being full of people with no friends/lives (delete where ness) yet you only have to look at the stats to see how much time you yourself spend(spent) sposting on the internet on just this forum alone, if we look at it since PF's inception, and calculated all you previous and present user names you would easily clear the top posters on just this forum alone nearly 30k on this one user name, plus your last name when you threw a hissy fit and then didnt post for a good 12months or so? makes me laugh
