Not much to be honest mate. About 4 and a half grand inc tax/mot/registration I think. But I got dead lucky really.

In reality they usually loads more, more like 7k+ with less mods than mine if you can find one in UK or Ireland (as there are 4, you will be lucky. but know last one went for 7k).
Importing one will be cheaper, but they rare and sought after in Japland too, so still wont be cheap.
The black one here is 4k FOB, so probably 5.5k all done and legal here, which is still cheap as fuck for what you getting...
http://www.driftworks.com/forum/powe...car-stock.html

As its such a dirty great turbo, I bought this from AET the other day, a turbine heat blanket, which will go along with the heat wrapped manifold and so on, to help keep as much heat in there as poss, which will in turn improve spoolup...

looks well snug, could that not damage the turbo in the long run due to the heat not disipating as well as it would do and putting more stress on turbo components?

Yes, it can, and quite possibly will, Stav is aware of the issues but prepared to risk it cause he is hardcore

I'm sure I've seen rally engines or similar where they have the turbos wrapped up like babies like Stav has done.

Yeah, pretty much all race/rally cars will have this or similar.

And yes, extra heat will kill things quicker. No doubt.

But thats saying more power will kill your bits quicker.

Or using your car hard will kill bits quicker.

In theory it will, but you cant have your cake and eat it, and who knows exactly how much quicker? In my experience of others cars with similar, not much or at all, in general. (Though it seemed to help kill Rods turbo, but Rods car is rather stressed anyhow, lol!)

You have a slow car or drive like a fanny and have no fun (ie be more passionford) but it lasts for ever.

Or you can have a faster car that you use to its capabilities (ie be more hardcore) that wont last quite as long.

And if years of running ALS etc has taught me anything, its to ignore everyone going "ooooh, it will kill your (whatever)" as theyve never tried it and are just going by theory and what theyve heard.

When it dies, it dies, its not a big risk, its a common and effective mod, cars are for using.

I remember where I fondly recall the wrapped turbo thing now!

Remember Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift. When Han died, they confiscated all their cars except the one that Shaun smashed in his first drift race, the Silvia I think it was. When they transplanted the engine into the mustang and they were test driving it, remember the shot where the camera zoomed up to the engine with no bonnet right up to the turbo, that was wrapped up proper!

re turbo hagar, this is what hayward and scott done for the 3dr - it bolts to the turbo/manifold. if you do get them to do you one, make sure its before you have the car painted

I cant see what that hangers meant to be doing mate? Shit pic

And yeah, the turbo blanket and wrapping all the hot exhaust shit will drop temps loads.

2moro morning on the way to work im gonna pop to the welders and get the correct flange welded to the wastegate bit of the manifold, then i can finally wrap it up and job done.

Im off to Gatebil on Thurs, and I know its meant to be amazing and all, I really cant be fucked right now, I jus wanna get on with doing the car!

Yeah, as tobyjub said, why quote that like its got anything to do with you dude? I was just explaining to Pani K about the heat thing?

And hell, I probably have/make less money than 75% of peeps on this forum, im properly poor to be honest, hence why I do it all myself with bargain bits rather than buying some flashy big name stuff and getting a tuner to do it.

Ideally needs to be 3.5in or 4in system too considering even on stock internals it looks like its gonna be comin on for 600 horsies, so 3in wont cut it, esp without a seperate screamer
Get a normal 4" (normal lol!) exhaust, i can recommend some they use on supras stateside, and a massive big fuck off silencer that you can bolt in and out for trackdays ?

You could even make an inlet to the exhaust on a butterfly valve as a switch that can be connected up to the wastegate to bypass the screamer if you plan it well ?

TBH i doubt there a single silencer on earth thatd fit inder a car, on a 3.5 or 4in system, thats not restrictive, thatd get it down to track volume, ie about 100db or maybe less.

Itd need a 2 or prob 3 box system I reckon.

Ive decided after Gatebil quiet cars can fuck off, horrendous amounts of noise is where its at, even if i cant do much track stuff as yet...

Well fuck it, just been out bending it back to shape, and tho the actual "silencer" (it does nothing, its a 12in long box with nothing in it ) is dented to fuck, i managed to get the tailpipe and pipe that joins the rest of the sys back in a circle, so its staying now.
