In comparison the Pug 205 is 875kg in standard trim, I have lost the back seats but gained cage, rear diff, heavier gearbox, front diff and general drive train and body kit (although bumpers are lighter) so I guess I will be in the 1000 to 1050kg bracket. I know H20 COS was weighed in at under 1200kg and that had full leather trim front and back and no lightweight panels

Maclaren F1 is 1138KG and 620bhp and 480 lbft of torque....the tyres were poor back then and still did 0-60 in the 3's and 1/4 mile in 11 secs....they are better now though on modern rubber.

Last comment on Toby's thread mate about this. Yeah I was but I was called into hospital for blood tests, thankfully it seems I don't have to worry about cancer for another year.

Glad you are all ok mate, it must play on your mind. My sister had breast cancer recently in a really aggressive form and has had the all clear now, lost my father in law last year and know you have been through it.

Got all my yokohamas on the wheels today, ready to fit on to determine the overall track width for the rear, I am hoping I can use my 4x4 callipers for now but will go to something like a 4pot from modern car or AP all round eventually, it stops well but I would like the modern stuff if I can.

Are AP's lighter than the standard stuff being ally or are they just the same as larger and bigger pads?

The top mounts are being replace with WRC adjustables. I am going to tidy this area and remove things like the bolt sticking out, weld up and redundant holes then after cage goes in it will all be painted. Not sure on having it smoothed like proper 90s or not yet.

IF the manual rack non assisted works ok then I will remove the electric pump to leave space for breather setup. Only just got all this working but I need it dry fitted in case I done like the non pas so the painted bay won’t be ruined.

Removed the reflector gold as it was wrinkled, will either not run it after bay painted or will get a pro to fit it.

Carpet and dash coming out ready for cage, big rewrire and then back in for trimmer to finish

Engine out on trolley I made. I disconnected everything, lowered ramps to the floor to make contact with trolley, undid the subframe crossmember and raised the ramps to leave engine on floor. Time for big tidy up now.

Diff is out.

I had to strap the body to the ramps as now engine and box is out the weight of the rear beam and diff makes the front lift on a see saw.

I will drop the diff out tomorrow, pull out the interior and then it is ready for Mark to pick up.
I have managed to remove all wires from the engine bay apart from the engine loom so things like horn, lights, indicators, fogs etc will all run through the inner wings, it should really tidy up the engine bay.

The new cage has grown to full spec like Jonfocs as I fell in love with that, I have asked Mark to design something that is safer for the road with no lid though, and I cannot decide if I will go buckets and harness (inertia reel ones) or stick with my RS leather and use a cg lock on the normal belts and lots of cage padding. Mark is very keen to tie the cradle to the cage and shell from front to back and we are thinking that 1100 kg or less and 525 to 630 bhp is going to need a good cage.

I am upgrading to t45 (I think) thin wall metal for the cage to halve the weight, all bolts in the car will be swapped to titanium where possible (and affordable)

Good project very lucky having a ramp makes life soo much easier, what clutch are you currently running and are you upgrading it on the new engine?

Are you braving running without power steering?

I have got the Reyland helix cover and high torque clutch...it was fine at 500 lbft so fingers crossed.

The non pas may be pap but the 1.6gti I had was excellent without it and this is not a whole lot heavier. My track 911 was also a bit heavier and non pas so hopefully it will be ok.

The ramp is such a wonderful luxury and I cringe when I think back to my cars jacked up on axle stands and wood etc....

I have been talking a lot recently with MK and also Mark Shead and we are a long way there now with spec and MK has most of my bits done with a few bits off for colour. I have a few more days of stripping the shell and then I will be waving it off for its big operation, it is certainly going to be an epic spec when finished.

You know what I think it actually might be.

Mk is getting itchy to chop it about, he didn't like the way the front cradle sat on the chassis rails so he is going to lower the car over the suspension a bit so it rides lower but suspension is more at full height.

Lots being done to shell and I cannot wait to see how it handles with cradle done, hopefully Ackermann restored and nice soft springs with good damping and the tight anti roll bars and a good setup....the engine should then be the cream on the top...not sure if many have run 2.2 stroker on the close ratio box, 3.9 diffs and just 16 inch wheels...it should ping off the rev limit at 160mph in 5th quite easily.

The thing I am wrestling with is do I top out around 520bhp and lightning spool up or go all out with the 7670 and 630 bhp for absolute bonkers and lose maybe 500rpm / 750 rpm spool up but the power will hold to 8000 rpm whereas it will be tailing off the 500bhp in the high revs with the smaller turbo.....not forgetting it will be under 1100 kg and maybe even on 1000kg if I put the carbon boot and doors on.

I am swapping every bolt for Titanium that I can lol.

Balls out you'll always wonder you can always put a smaller turbo on if it's to nuts but I think you like nuts not in a gay way
