My Rallye resto. (New Paint all done!!!)
Well I know it's not a fordie badge on the front, but there seems ot be quite a few of you on here that do admire a good V dub.
So here's some pics of mine that hopefully will be one to admire too
some pics of the car before it went in - https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...asc&highlight=
And this is how it looked when I dropped it off a few weeks ago!
Stripped
Mad Max stylee
nice and fresh

Rummele??? why do you call him that?
generally the car is good, but there are a few bits I'm not happy about around the car so figured better to get the whole thing done There are concerns on either sills and the scuttle that are the main points to be repaired
Near side
Offside
Also have a small patch on the scuttle at the windscreen seal
It's the whole exterior that is getting done as well as some subtle body mods, and a few things smoothed out

Yeah it would have been nice to have it ready for that
There is a couple of shows that I plan to go to later, that it will be ready for Edition38, looking forward to that one, and there is also a Rallye meet in September with over 30 Rallyes so far and maybe a couple more shows
Even if it was out of the bodyshop in time it still wouldn't be ready, as I've got a few things waiting to get fitted up
Brand new 4 pots with 305's
Mk4 for the rear (still to be cleaned obviously )
20mm H&R spacer to fit the Brembo's
toothed belt pulley kit
FK strutbrace
Mocal oil cooler
Rainbow 265 speakers, tweeters & crossovers
Very nice and well made Audioscape door pods
Duostyling gauges, Oil pressure/Voltmeter/Air fuel ratio fit exactly like for like in the standard switches blanks
a couple of little shiny bits
with quite a few more bits still to come including carbon bitties
Other body mods are flush the rear cover and delete the access for tow eye, rolling the arches, and deleting the 2nd wiper hole

An update:
Not pretty
seeing as you can no longer get sills for these.... the rusted section you see with the hole on the inner sill is to be cut out and a new section welded in
The sill extension is also going to be cut out now the area to be cut away is marked in RED and will be cut down to the small flat that runs at the bottom as this is the strongest area of the sill. Before this is done there is a guy coming in to measure everything up and he is going to be making NEW sills then this will all be welded up and as new
No corners are being cut or shortcut/quick fixes on this as this is something that I do not want coming back to haunt me when this is all done it should be stronger and better than original
This will be happening to both sides

Those swtiches are very cool Are they a DIY thing of your own or did you buy them like that. The audioscape speaker enclosures and the speakers themselves aren't half expensive

As for the Audioscape stuff, yeah it is quite pricey, but their quality is excellent I set up a GB between 4 differant forums and saved a wee bit that way

and heres the sill repair
Really happy with the job that the boys at Protrim have done here
New sill made
New sill zincd
Section cut out and hole fixed
Nice and fresh inside
Getting tacked up
Welds flushed
The inside of the old sill
New sill for other side V soon
have also decided to have the back seam on the sill flushed, this is still to be done though, leaving the one at the front though as that is in line with the seamof the door, and that way I can also remove the wing easier if ever need be (Hope not though )

a small up date.
haven't bothered with pics as there's not much to see really.
all 4 arches rolled
drivers side is finished with all little high's and lows taken out and smoothed
had a slight problem with the roof around the arial due to some point in the cars life the arial had been given a tuck and stretched the skin resulting in the strength been taken out of it and the panel would dip and pop out with pressure applied to it! this would actually happen when I was washing the car :headbang:
This ended up being quite frustrating to sort, but after some time and a fair bit of knoking with a dolly from under the headlining he managed to get the strength back, and then smoothing the whole area out
the only remaining parts for repair are the o/s sill still to do, like for like as the drivers side and then a small area on the scuttle. So next week it should be getting these done, then all the glass out, rubbed down and primered
the car will then be getting trailered about 20 miles to another bodyshop to be painted It is still going to be painted by my guy, only he is going to use his mates booth with a full blown oven to do it. (he's hoping to build a whole new booth in a big extension on his place this year)
and in the meantime, I've been buying more goodies
am just waiting on delivery of:
Brand new badged grill (current spoiler bonded well on!)
sunroof deflector & arms (getting painted)
set of Blue Nology Hot Wires
and have got
Full deep SWG eyebrow spoiler
Phat rear strut
New VW expansion tank
Nice new fogs
71° thermostat to keep things cool
some carbon bitties
but now that I'm going twin intake, I won't be able to use the altenator cover, might see if I can modify it to fit later

update:
last week I went down to see 3/4 of it all rubbed down, passenger sill done, and the scuttle mods done
went down today and:
it's looking smooooth
all glass is out, got 6 coats of primmer on it as after coat #3 it blew the hose of the compressor, so it was rubbed down slightly again, and another 3 coats put on and it's got paint
well now I know what the colour is going to look like
it actually looks darker than before, and through preping the car we've come to the conclusion that the whole car has seen paint before I knew some bits had (the rear end and the drivers side) so not 100% if the right factory code colour was used with from what I've seen it's probably due to being fresh and new
but I am liking it! A LOT and it's only the whole insides of the doors and the inside of the door frames, the tops of the wings and scuttle panel that are done.
sadly one side, (drivers) is going to have to be done again along the top of the sill extension as I'm not happy with the consistancy of the sealer that runs along the length of the sill. So a small delay for that
No pics am affraid as I forgot to pick up the camera, but I'm going back down tomorrow as I'll be in the neighbourhood (post office picking up my Nology leads ((hopefully )) so i'll nick the camera back and get some recent ones up
Oh and got some good news with my wheel dilema (well centre caps) and my wheel refurb guy has my brand new ones from Germany in his posssion and are looking shaaaweeet he's going to e-mail me a pic of them tomorrow
getting si'ked for this now
as much as I'd like to stay away from the bodyshop and wait for the phone to go to say it's ready........ I can't
(plus I still need to give him the new headlights/fogs/etc )
