I got a RS1600i its been in my lock up for 2 years it has no MOT. It has all the bits a RS1600i should have apart from the front seats,Thay been changed for 1988 RS turbo recaros. Its a Y Reg 1983 its silver but it needs a respray i also think it may need a new boot lid.How much do you think i should be puting it up for, I have been offerd £800 by a guy whos not seen it.

800 pounds sounds OK- Difficult to break them for this money.
I sold mine 4 years ago in similar but with good front seats and a fucked dash.

However mine also came with more than enough spares to rebuild the car.

guys just been had a look at it(my RS1600i) and says hes not sure its a real rs1600i. because its got rear seat belts do you know if it should or should'nt have them.

well hes taken all the numbers of the car and i did point out that it has the funny battery tray. The thing with it is my car has electric windows and central locking but it has'nt got electric mirrers or opening rear qurters. Also the sunroof is not factray fitted. Did RSi have a opshernal custom pack like the S1 RS turbo if it did then my ones missed out. I think the lece windows and locking may have been put in with the alarm because the alarm locks the doors and shuts the windows

Your guy is talking out of his arse- I may or may not get this 100% as I haven't had a 16i for 4 years.... BUT

Came in Diamond white, black,Sunburst red, caspian blue, stratos silver, graphite grey

How to tell if yours is real or not.
-Front grill should have all slats opened- Xr3i have the top 2 or 3 closed- Beware though they may have been opened with a dremel so look for the marks.
-There should be twin coils- If they're not on the car and it runs a dizzy look for a hole in the gearbox casing where the sensor lead runs OR if the sensor lead is still in tact.
-Should have the lean running lights on the rev counter that flash yellow and red.
-Front anti roll bar should have 2 bars and adjustable ties.
-Battery tray at an angle- as you've mentioned.
-Rare BUT should have an exshaust that goes over the rear wishbone- but no alarms if its missing.
-Bonnet stripes should come over the front edge around 6mm
-Carpet is unique to the car and should match the interior
-Internal clock has a timer on it.
