im about to hand over 1200 quid to pc world for a laptop.anyone know a better place to buy from i can try?

 

dunno what the dell ones are like? or you a member of anywhere like costco or that?my cousin got a nice sony one from there.

if you let me know the full spec I can look into a similar spec dell one and see the price difference (can get a dell discount through work)

i wouldnt hand 12 pence over to PC world,their after sales service is crap,just took me 5 months and a very threatening phone call to get money back on a faulty tower they sold me,if it goes wrong your fooked,they wont want to know and will blame you.take this advice onboard,dont use them.

i bought a dell inspiron 6000 with the proper intel centrino not celeron and a 512 memory upgrade Ł600 awesome and good looking battery is good for 3 1/2 hrs too

i bought a acer travelmate 8103 wlmi just recently and its shit hot

got it off fleebay brand new for 580 quid instead of 1145

has intel centrino 2 thingies in it, tri band wireless and radeon x700 pci express graphics

cant fault it

 

what you wanna use the laptop for? games? internet? autocad in 3d?

I have this: Vaio 14" laptop - perfect size for the graphics work I do on it (1280x800 screen, beautifully sharp and bright).



Spec's 512Mb RAM, 1.73Ghz, 80Gb HD, wireless, firewire, DVD writer...

Added 1Gb RAM and a Bluetooth PC card, and about to pop a 120Gb drive in it (Ł225 total) so I'll have spent Ł1040 on it, but it's been worth every penny (so far!). Use it for GPS sat nav with Autoroute 2006, graphic design, programming, Limewire, yada yada yada.

I know it's not the fastest (but it's about 13% quicker than my old AMD 2Ghz!) but it looks the part and does everything I need it to.

Whatever you do avoid PC World like the plague!!!!

I would seriously look at what you want this laptop to do, and then search the net, ebuyer is a fave of mine.

Trouble is, most lappy's come with them shonky Intel processors

 

Try dabs.com, do good deals on there. Go for pentium or Athlon as well, none of this Celeron or Duron crap.

Does the grpahics car on that have it's own dedicated memory ? Or does it take 128 out of the system memory ?

iv not handed the money over yet.i dont know anything about computers just like the look of the toshiba.

it had a 17 inch screen and 100 gb and the processor is fast,so im thinking it will be good??
