Default RealVNC - network probs

Has anybody used RealVNC ? www.realvnc.com

I'm havings probs and its bugging the life outta me. Any help would be greatfully received.

Right now I have installed the server + viewer software onto the desktop (as this will be the 'storage' computer) and have installed the viewer software onto my laptop (which is connected wirelessly to the network.)

Run the laptop prg, enter password and hey presto the desktop computer screen appears on the laptop, just superb, fine and dandy etc etc.

The problem is when I turn the computers off. On turning them on and running the laptop prg it will not for the love of god find the desktop !

Have uninstalled the software on both the desktop and the laptop andreinstalled it and it works again, yet turning the computers off and then back on reverts back to the cant find the desktop problem !

please please help as I need this working before I can start the nursery (baby is due today by the way so is quite urgent ! ) [/url]

You need to run the "Register as a service" icon on the storage PC, vnc will run when the pc starts up

If the server component was running you wouldnt get a 10060 error. Its simply not running.

What version of windows are you running?

Yep we use at work and I use this to get into work from home. Do you get any error messages of is it the "Connection failed" window.

Do you get to the IP address window but not to the password window, does the password window reject you or does it not even open from the shortcut?

Ignore that last one of mine!

Could really do with knowing how you have set it up, the options you have selected. PM me them if you dont want them on here. Not password though.

So the only time it works is on first install? Never on reboot?

In the setup there is an option to start as a service when boots, im sure that is the problem. should have the icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen to the left of the clock after it has booted up!!

Agree with RS Series 2. The Icon should be in the bottom right corner and double clicking should bring up the properties.

can you ping the other machine through cmd? That will at least tell you if it can be contacted and help with whether it is VNC or network.

Start, Run, cmd, ping XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX etc

Let us know what happens.

Take a look at this, this is in the setup and you need to make sure that the following options are ticked as below:

Sorry that the pic isnt that big!!

I would reinstall it on both machines ticking the options above and see how you go from there.
