Laptop (and ADSL networking( question..... help, lol
Okay I am not really clued up on me PC and comp specs, but I have a PC down here connected to 512 ADSL.... Want to add a router to network my laptop I have upstairs (so I have net connection up there)
Now, my laptop is a bit pants (old, lol) but a mate of mine who does this networking thing for a living says I should be fine as I can plug the ADSL router into the PC via the PCI slot (I have 4 unused slots on the PC) and connect my latop to the router via the PCMCIA port. Now pretty sure I have 2 of these PCM ports on me old laptop.....
So could I also buy this?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...710033997&rd=1
As my laptop don't have a USB port And my smartmedia/multimedia card reader/writer (for digi cam cards, phone memory cards etc) runs off USB and I was thinking about this bluetooth dongle thing for easier data transfer from my phone which is also USB....
So could I have the USB hub plugged into one PCMCIA port and the ethernet card for b'band networking plugged into the other?????
Lol

You can buy for about Ł50 an ADSL modem, Router, with USB and ethernet ports.
This is what I use and can have upto 4 PC's online simultaneously.
For your laptop, I would recomend an ETHERNET PCI interface if you dont already have one.
(This should be about Ł40)
This will allow a longer wire length from the router plus should be the quickest.
(100 megs per sec)
Try this link for an example

I recomend asking the company you buy these products from for their advice before purchasing
just to be safe !

What I was not sure about tho was can I also have the PCM USB hum fitted in the secondary PCM port on my laptop so I can use USB things like smart media card reader and bluetooth dongle?
Thanks for replying tho
