hi, im looking for some advice about my exhaust, im wondering if i have a hole in it. when i drive, especially accelerating, there is a really loud noise.. i know thats not very descriptive.. but its just a noise, like a rumble, or to me it sounds like ur in an aeroplane... there was also a more rustly/clunking noise i noticed today... i havent driven my car lately as im up in birmingham.. but when i do its always loads of really short journeys and stop starting the whole time...

i was thinking of taking it to kwikfit or somewhere... i dont really know the garages around here, im in teh centre of town. also, i dont want them to fool me into something i dont need, so is there anything i need to as or watch out for... especially as im a girl and not definite on teh problem...

Dont go to kwik fit, they charged me Ł66 for a centre section when I could go to bennetts and get the whole exhaust system for Ł16! That was for a Fiesta though...

Get a friend, and a cloth, and get your friend to cover the exhaust where the fumes exit, and then listen all around the car for gases lowing through a leak.

 

hmm... not sure if my friends would be willing to crawl under my car with me! hehe... dont think i will go to kwikfit then... anyone recommend anywhere in brum... its a P reg corsa so not a fab car, but i dont think the exhaust had been replaced for a while before i got it and all these little journeys wont have helped, if it is an exhaust problem.

are you willing to crawl under the car? if you are... good girl!!!

get a mate to hold a rag over the tailpipe, to block off the fumes exiting there, then you can go under and listen/feel all over the whole length of the exhaust, esp joins/welds.
