You dont like zvh's?

Why not?

what advantage does an older more out of date bottom end give you?

just dont like the idea of mixing and matching different heads and bottom ends, not that im saying it dont work, cause it does, its been proved by many!

just i want to retain the 1600 capacity and take it to its limits which is what im doing

i wont ever own a ZVH, id rather have a zetec 16v

Ah, im probably not the best person to try and get a purists view across to, im quite happy that my 3door is a 1.6GL shell and my mini im in the process of chaning the engine from a

5 port, N/A 998cc 8v made by BL
to a
8 port, Turbo, 2021cc 16v made by vauxhall

When it comes to ideas with cars im about as pure as a pornstars mind.

Chip, you would have loved the CVH vs ZVH threads that used to hark back to the old RSBB days

ZVH = odd-rodder was always a fave

It didnt have an engine when i bought it, so there isnt a 998, but thats what it would have come with orignally.

Why you looking to buy one?

I think ive still got my original cooper 998cc motor on twin HS2 carbs knocking around at my mates place, it belongs to him now though so you would have to talk to him about price, few hundred quid though probably, got the 12G295 head on it of course though, which is the bollocks for modifying a 998

sorry to jump in but if you take the drive from the dizzy you could use one of those flexible drives that go in an electrical drill and have flexibility where you mount the alt - good luck just the sort of challenge that id get into this.

running something off a driveshaft isnt really possibe as they move up and down with the suspension, and if you got the alternator to move it with then it would be more unsprung wieght which isnt good of course, although it might be possible off an inner cv joint i guess, but there isnt any space near them either

you could us a split drive shaft and run it of the bearing part

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jon.lee...lternators.htm

might be worth emailing them for a spec sheet on there alternators chip. claiming they are the smallest on the market!

if you can get a part number i can source most alternators at good rates

The Zetec that is used in the Dunlop Supercars in Ireland, uses the original crank driven oil pump for pressure, then a small scavenge pump for, well, scavenge.

I don't know if that's relevant, cos I don't know whether you're trying to save space by going dry sump, or gain power by going dry sump and therefore need to make room for a pump...
