Default Dry sump pumps, looking for a small one, anyone help?

I need the smallest possible dry sump pump i can find thats still up to the job of feeding a 2 litre engine + turbo (ie lots of flow needed for squirters etc)

Anyone got any recomendations on pumps that are small?

http://www.paceproducts.co.uk/dss/pics/16v1.jpg

Thats probably what i will go with
Just wondered if there was something even smaller that is up to the job?

Also, any advice on a TINY alternator, im SO cramped for space its unreal!

water pump sits inside the block mate, so no it wouldnt save any space at all.

Nice idea though.

No mate ive got loads and loads of space in the rwd nova, its for the mini im building with a vauxhall engine.

Problem is that the alteranator wont fit at the back of the engine cause the bulkhead is in the way.

If i cant get a dry sump pump and alternator to both fit then i wont be able to rev much past 8000rpm

Lol @ capacitor, how is that going to generate electricity? its basically just a battery that disharges quickly.

running something off a driveshaft isnt really possibe as they move up and down with the suspension, and if you got the alternator to move it with then it would be more unsprung wieght which isnt good of course, although it might be possible off an inner cv joint i guess, but there isnt any space near them either

Lol, fair enough mate.

although none of your idea were as pointless as building a mini with 500bhp or so, lol

Standard gearing for the box im using is 187mph at 6700rpm limiter IIRC.

Im going to be (if i can sort the dry sump etc out!) running a limiter of about 8700rpm

My wheels are approx 15% smaller rolling radius than standard though.

So gearing should be for 159@standard 6700rpm limiter
and about 206mph at 8700rpm

I will never ever under any circumstances even consider doing over 200mph in a mini though, fook that for a game of soldiers, and even somewhere with a lot of space like brunters it wouldnt have the power to get there quick enough i suspect (if at all they arent very aerodynamic!)

No mate not seen that one before, looks good (other than the welds on the manifold, lol)

Thats basically the same sort of thing that im doing, only obviously mine will have a lot more power than that one does.

The engine isnt in mine yet mate, im still building it at the moment.

Can probably arrange a testdrive for you though in about 2 years when ive finally finished it.
Although TBH probably wont let you use the nitrous, lol

Chip.....as for the alternator idea - could you not mount it say at the other side of the engine where there maybe a little more room for the actual unit but keep the pulley where the belts are - & link the pulley & actual unit via some sort of a rod with maybe a UJ on it if necessary.....if you see what i mean???

Lee.

thats not a bad idea.

You mean something like drive a bar off the engine that runs along the top of it over the turbo and manifold etc and then have the alternator mounted right in the right hand side of the engine up above the gearbox where there is room?

not a bad plan at all that

Ideally would prefer not to though obviously as if anything got caught on the that driveshaft it could cause a cambelt failure (not what you want when the head is worth best part of 3 grand and the bottom end even more)

Yup you got it.....except I was thinking on the bulkhead side - more protection from anything getting caught on it I imagine too. Nothing stopping you making a protective cowl for it to protect it - even a slightly larger pipe to sleeve the actual driveshaft!!!

Or....idea number two - I take it its the same engine you're using that is in that mini in the pic - whats stopping you making some sort of adaptor pulley inbetween the drive for the dizzy off the back of the camshaft so you can mount it that side of the engine again where theres more room????

Dizzy one is a better idea than you could possibly realise mate

Im using distributorless ignition on mine, so that bit isnt used at all on mine, so would be pretty easy to get drive from there for the alternator, cracking idea
