Default What are the benefits to having 2 cars?

So be getting a 2nd car soon, is there any point keeping the old car (2001) ? nothing wrong with it apart from age and rust on the rear wheel arches.

she plans to start learning soon so figured keep old car as we own it plus we live kinda remote as well so no car we would be stuck risky to rely on one

If you can afford it 2 cars are very handy. My wife needs her car to get to work and I need mine for work, she leaves for work at 7.00am and picks up a work friend on the way. We would be lost with just one car.

yeah well it is a costly thing for sure my wife works very local but still 10min drive and no other way to get there so the plan keep old car for local runabouts and for her to get to work (once she passes) ideal because means we wont have to buy a 2nd car for her if we hang on to the old car, longs it gets thru the MOTs

Put the money it would cost you in the bank and don't touch it. Then, when a new car is needed, not wanted, you'll be in a much better position.

Lol same here, I
Opened up a policy when I had my garage but closed that in 2009 and went road risk only and have been ever since with a long line of cars! Still got an old 406 diesel that gets driven once every couple of months or so but soooo handy to have!

I don't see the point in having several cars for personal use, its just several times the cost to keep all them running and most of them will just sit idle most of the time. a good car for the weekends and a van for work that's all i need.

Is it just me or has this thread turned into a " I've got more cars than you have "competition ?
