Default Problem starting Fiat Punto.

My friend has got a 07 Fiat Punto, not sure of the model but I think it's just a 1.2 litre or something like that. The problem she has is when she tries to start it it just makes a horrible whining sort of noise. The only thing I can compare it to is the noise you get if you try to start your car when it is already started. She says she has had the starter motor changed and also the ring gear but it still does it. Sometimes it will do it 3 or 4 times and then it will start, other times it will start ok 1st time. Any suggestions what she can try looking at next without it costing her a fortune?

Cheers peeps.

When did she have the starter changed last. The starters are really common for nacking up.

Could be wrong starter and only just catching the edge of the ring gear, also check to make sure the dowel is there as the starter could be slightly off

Also check to make sure the plastic clip that seperated the main live feed and the trigger is ok and that the spring washer is not corroded

Cheers mate. Would that cause it to make the horrible noise that it makes when it fails to start?
