Default Urgent help needed!

Was putting the finishing touches to the head rebuild on my Saff tonight, timed it up and put the belt on then turned the engine by hand to double check the timing.

Problem is, the cam belt tensioner seems to be sitting too close to the head and is pulling the belt towards the back of the cam pulleys.

Should there be a spacer between the head and tensioner (I don't know if there was one on there before as the tensioner was still on the head when I took it to the engineers) and if so where can I get one tomorrow, or does anyoe know how thick it needs to be so I can try and find something else to use?

Don't think there is a spacer behind the tensioner! Are you sure you have put the cam pulleys on the right way round?

I've not done any of the head work myself it was all done by a machine shop, as far as I know the cam pulleys haven't been off the cams

If the pulleys are on the wrong way round then they will sit out further than they should which is why i mentioned it mate!
I'll go and look at a tensioner and head in the garage just to confirm there is no spacer gimme a sec

Its easy to tell if they are the wrong way round mate as the more dished side is the inside!

Didn't even give it a thought that it may have been something he'd done as I've heard nothing but good stuff about his work (the head and valve seats are perfect) just instantly assumed it must have been a spacer or something missing
