they are a total nightmare, on the 2 I've had grief with, both were 1997 audi A4's I had to take the entire leg/hub etc off so I could get it all in a vice and smash the seized in bolts out using a firking great big hammer.

If the top suspension arms are getting renewed a good dose of heat may help get the bolts out.

W12 Audi a8 ecu coolant temp sensor 20hr job , I accepted the challenge as is was some famous football managers car, I pissed it in just under 2 hours and had already done the deal of taking the job on for a grand as Audi Preston wanted 3k for doing it, I'll happily do them all day long , and I didn't bodge it or break anything 100% job done proper!!

I remember replacing a front spring on my mates passat years ago and this had the same suspension set up as this. Them top arms were a nightmare to get out. Im sure I struggled to get the top arm back bolts out. It was about 6 years ago when I did it so my memory isn't the best.

Car is designed around the engine right as fuck supposed to drop engine box suspension etc but you don't need to!

At the very back of the engine on the passenger side bank behind the head in a water pipe

you can get away with doing them in place with gear box off you get quite alot of room thank god
