Default Car electrics wiring question this time

ok
want to wire up the RS this weekend properly, similar to how Adam (BlackRS) has done his, but have a question.
Using for example something simple like say a fan switch, wired like this.
Wire from fan to the battery, with a fuse box and switch in the middle.

what do i do about relays? do i need a relay and where does it go? do i just wack a relay in the middle somewhere or does it have to go in a certain place (before the fusebox etc)

Wire from fan to the battery, with a fuse box and switch in the middle

It goes where your switch is in the order you have typed it out. Your switch works the relay, not the fans...

No, the switch controls the relay. You cannot run fan current through the switch as it will melt.

Ask Tiff for his super fan wiring diagram!

40 amp 4 way fuel relay i used for my fans

wire the earth from the fan direct to battery
live from fan to relay
live from battery to relay
earth wire to relay
wire from a live source (fused) with switch inline to relay

obviously you need the correct relay and certain wires have to goto correct pins

this does cut out the OE fan switch mind
