Default I can smell petrol...

...but the S2 doesn't appear to be leaking any??? I still have almost a full tank of fuel which i put in a few days ago.
I know the vapour is more volatile, so this is probably very dangerous!!!
I can smell it nearer the back of the car - is there a common place it could be leaking from?

Yup, tank spout, could be fooked.

Get under the back end and check the fuel pump area and the hose connecting the pump to the tank. Check the tank spout area too. You will see if petrol is leaking on to the tank as it runs from the spout down the tank usually.

Incidentlly, do you have an after market fuel filler cap on the car?

I was sooo gonna write that too

As suggested, look for the dampness on the underside of the car.

Does the S2 have a breather - the Cos does, and has a solenoid to open it up when the ign is on? Could be something to do with that?

Just have the standard cap. I noticed it smelled a few weeks back in the works car park, but thats an enclosed space underground, dismissed it as everything looked dry underneath and no patches on the floor

Then when i powerwashed the underside on Monday there was a trail of coloured water

Not sure St3V3 C, will be getting my dad to look at it later....with match in hand! lol

They got a lil vacuum hose that sits at the front, doubt it's that though.
check the hose from tank-pump mine leaked there. when ure looking, have the car running, as mine only leaked when engine running and system pressurised.
Can we watch from behind while u look under the car

Your too late Vroooom ptssssh, already done it
had to lie down anyway!

No signs of any leaking or any dampness, everything looked dry but the engine was off and there was no petrolly smell

It had a leak ages ago, in the engine bay, but that was very apparent as the fuel was flying out and was after a nut had been tightened

Will check the fuel cap more carefully as well now you mention it

I tell u what,, My Pressure actuator was leaking, it was running down the metering head and onto the gearbox, but the smell was whafting to the back of the car, making me think the leak was at the back, even though it was bone dry.

MikeyXR2i It's bad cos i can't locate the exact place it's coming from

My parents had a car set on fire cos of a fuel leak, so i'm quite conscientious about it
The times i have noticed it, I was closing the boot and stood next to the rear quarter and it was really strong

Since mentioning this, the smell has stopped!

Will still be aware there might be a problem and keep checking everything though

I want a cat, but I think it might make a meal out of the Gunea pig And he would be quite a meal the fat little pig:

That was a while ago too

Oh, and no need to be shy

Aaawww how sweet! Your Guinea Pig is marked like my cat, Poppy - the one in the MotoDrive seat

Cats can be ok with smaller animals if they are brought up with them, but Poppy is getting old now, like the RS! and her ear fell off last summer
She likes to try and eat my brothers lizards

By the way, i think i've solved the smell problem, just been to the BP and took the cap off - (there was only 1/4 in) and the red part was wet through with Petrol. No idea how it's managed to get on there??? Have been checking the car underneath nearly everytime i have been out and bone dry so must be coming from the cap, as Hartyboy said

Lizards - they are quite cool, do they live in the house?

So, is that normal for bits of cats to fall off in the summer then? Perhaps someone needs to tell the cat it's supposed to shead it's fur, not its ears

The lizards live with my younger brother in the attic, so if they escape they will plunge to their death My dad is a bit scared of them

I don't think it's normal for cats bits to fall off, but it cost me 40 quid for the vet to tell me my cat, who i've had since i was 7, was suddenly 'allergic to the sun' He even told me to put a bonnet on her when she goes out and he wasn't joking!

I think you should get a cat

Now that's funny

The pig is getting old now, so I don't know how much longer he'll be around. Also the old house was on a busy road, but the new one is in a cul-de-sac so wouldn't have to worry so much about a cat getting run over, get one soon I think I fancy one of the grey 'sheba' cats - can't think of the breed Some friends had 4 of them, and they were all nice...

Lol one once jumped on his face as well! He is a Naval Officer and has served in the gulf etc, but put one of the lizards near him and he's like a big girl

There are a few grey cat breeds, Korat, Russian Blue, grey tabby, can't think right now
I want a Siamese, they are so smart and you can train them, as we used to have one and it used to get in the MG B GT and go for rides! whereas Poppy does not like going for rides in the RS

Look at the size of his ears

To have a lizard jump on my face might bother me a bit, but I wouldn't mind them otherwise.

Those are the ones

Siamese would be alright, but I remember someone having a few and they were a bit nasty Could just be the way they were raised though?

What sort of stuff can you train them to do then? I can't see him running off to fetch the paper from your letterbox

Those ears are huge!!
I think the Sheba cat is a Korat cat, as they have the amber eyes, other breeds have green/blue eyes and long faces

The lizards have never jumped on anyone before - i think they can tell if you are scared and play up to it!

Siamese tend to take to one person and not really like anyone else very much. They can be insanely jealous and violent! but ours wasn't

You can train them like a dog, to sit and walk on a lead and things. Ours could open window catches if you were locked out

Brings a whole new meaning to cat burglar

That explains me nearly loosing a hand when I saw those then

A friend was telling me about her cat that kept bringing a toy back for her to throw again and again, cat goes skidding off on the wood floor playing fetch like a dog She said she was just waiting for it to bark and offer a paw for a biscuit
