For the missus, just needs to be reliable, and hassle free motoring

Power, MPG and creature comforts don't matter, just reliability, no big common faults etc!

C max 1800 / 2000 will be ok. Not mint on fuel maybe - reliable tho. Diesel - usual tdci stuff lol.

2.5k gets you a good 2004 / 2005 plate.

She doesn't do many miles at the moment no, and something small size wise! She's a nightmare as it is, god knows what she'd be like with some power under her foot

smiley face transit,
banana engine , cast block never need to check water oil etc
,lots of space for all the rubbish woman collect
big mirrors to aid painting on make up whilst on motorways etc
bull bars to aid women parking
again lots of room for teddies etc in the back
big tyres for all those 20mph kerb bumps

as the engine slackens off and looses power the shell rots off giving even mpg and power to weight for all its life and can be picked up for no more than some scrap a nice dog and the spare change in your pocket off almost any pikey , also very eco friendly as it will only take one misses to pickup all the local kids on the school run whilst the rest swan about drinking wine moaning about men ,

WIN/WIN if you ask me lol

Fantastic post for a Monday morning. Lol.

I'd go map as well. Ep3 shape civic. 1.4 or 1.6. Or a mk6 fiesta zetec s. I got a 5 st the other day for 2 k so a zs must be the same money.

If it's for the missus just to potter around in and performance, or looks, isn't a factor, but reliability and running costs are, I'd say it's gotta be the mk7 Civic (2001-2005). Surprising amount of space inside, nice enough to drive, nippy little thing, and Honda's famed reliability

Pick up a 1.4 or 1.6 for circa £2k, preferably buy one off an old couple so you know it's most likely to have been serviced instead of ragged
