this happened to mine i ust took the sump off and helicoiled it job done think it cost me 5 quid to get it helicoiled

You'd need to remove (or at least lower) the front crossmember BUT you will have to support the engine with a proper engine support bar because you'll have to undo the engine mounts.

well today i bought a helicoil kit drilled it out tapped it out inserted helicoil,poured oil through engine washed out with diesal was surprised how much alloy came back out,inserted bolt couldnt belive it chewed up the sump plug bolt,tryed again with anorher helicoil tightened up this time then i noticed i hadnt put the washer on,anyway it was getting tight and i did not dare remove again lol,if it leaks hasnt yet i will th.ink about it when it gets rebuilt anyway put the tax disc in the window and went for a drive happy times again.thanks for all the help on here.now i need to chane the rear springs and shockers.

i wouldent wont to do it in situ on my car wouldent wont all the shit going into my sump from drilling it and tapping it!

Fingers crossed that you got away with flushing the swarf out, and that that it doesnt leak then mate

been out for a drive its ok at the moment will get it done properly when the engine gets a freshen up as there a few leaks on the engine anyway
