Default Focus zetec engine change

I recently bought a cheap 1.6 ebony, however it uses colossal volumes of oil, a litre per 100 miles. Other than the car is perfect. Searching the Web I've discovered it's a common problem, due to thrashing from cold. The general advice was the engine is too weak, usually knackered rings. The only viable solution being an engine change. One post said change to a 1.8 or 2.0 lump. I know they look slightly different, the oil filler being the opposite way around for one. How hard is it to change the 1.6 for a 1.8 or 2.0? Not meaning diy wise, meaning practicality. Many thanks

You will need a complete donor car. engine, engine bay and interior loom, exhaust, brakes, suspension, ecu, are all different to name but a few.

The 1.4 / 1.6 is a totally different engine to the 1.8 / 2.0, exhaust and inlets are the other way round for starters!

Cheers. Another stupid question, can you use a 1.8 block with a 1.6 head? As the block is the cause of the trouble
