Evening gents,

I no i should be asking a local builder, but im planning on putting a precast garage up unless theres a better option.
The precast garage size is 12.3 Foot by 18.3 long, there £1875 fitted.

Im just wandering i no quite a few of you have built your own what the cost of a brick / Or block garage would cost me ???
Would the block be ok or does it need rendering to seal it from water.

I could sort the door so it would just be the shell with/without roof.
Any ideas ??

mine is going to be 8 course or so of brick then im going to make 4 panesl from 2x4 with nice overlap clading, once screwed together i dunno bout the roof, i like the pantile looking sheets or little biscuit tiles depending what i turn up
i like wood over brick

i wouldnt have a clue on cost, im buying a mixer at the weekend and build it myself unless it looks all wonkey

Ive done some lookin into it for a double garage and to be honest it prob works out about the same to build a brick one with a flat roof (easly changed to a pitched anytime) yourself by the time you put the founds in and a brick one is goin to be a lot better. You can even buy old bricks to match your house off ebay, and a door can be had for £600-700.

i have been looking into this and the price i have had so far is 6.5k and thats for a 6mtr br 5mtr garage single skin block work rough cast render to outside with a tin sheet roof and that doesnt include the price of the roller shutter door and planning permission as well

build it yourself, wont be to hard and im sure you could build it WITH FOUNDS for under 3k

I dont think cos 4x4 is far out with 6.5k, for a 6mx5m building with concrete slab and foundations it would cost 2k for cement and blocks, thats single skin, so would need to be rendered and would still need a roof.

i just done a pr cast 14' wide and 16' long with the roof cost me arround 1300 i could have blocked one for that doing it myself but i tried to cheat ah well. still it does the job.

Its not somthing i can do myself, the base will be sorted in the next few weeks so then ready for the garage. If its going to be 5/6k then the precast is a no brainer but if it could be done for 2.5/3 then its definitly a consideration.

Supose i should do some calculations as to how mays blocks id use then get some prices.

Im having my concrete delivered for my pad on monday
Pad is 22'x16' and I need 5 qubic meters and costing 440 which I thought was reasonable.
Only going single skin block down sides and back and brick pillars at front. Gonna use reclaimed timbers for roof so hopefully gonna keep it all under 2000 budget

Having my garage started in three weeks, its surprising how quickly the material prices add up, before adding plant, labour and the dreaded VAT. Going for a twin wall construction with pitched slate roof, but hopefully once built a nice home for the car and a place to hide from the wife.

Well mine is 24 1/2 foot by 15 foot external. Single block
I reckon it will owe me 3k rendered.

Im going 21x15 inside as I dont need planning or building regs as long as I keep to those measurments
And im sure it will be good enough for me

I'm going for 8m x 4m wide ( width of plot limits going wider ), with strip foundations and intergrated pit. As always a lot of the cost is in the ground work, so the best part of 6K will only get me to damp course. Had to get planning for mine and also issue a party wall agreement as I'm excavating within 1m of the neighbours garage.

Reading how cheap some of you are getting yours built for, I'm feeling maybe I've gone OTT for a garage

some of the prices knocking about on here are abit on the light side, having built a 10 x 8 single garage with a tiled pitched roof last year, and being in the middle of an extention on my house 8 x 8 - i know how much the materials are without labour :0

my garage cost me approx 17k, my house extension to being water tight 30k.

mine is 30' x 20' and 13' high for a 2 post lift.
floor is about a foot deep concrete all over and part of it is reinforced with metal for lift.
it took LOADS of hardcore to build up the ground as its on a hill. its blocks harled at the bottom, then tin sheets for sides and roof, in a H beam (think thats what there called) frame, and wood to screw the sheets too. i did nothing myself and its was 8 n a bit grand.
thats as just for shed with 2 doors, 1 personell door and one 10' x 15' door.
had to do all electrics w airlines etc. myself
