Default gripper diffs..?

hello..
i have a new gripper diff in my 2wd saff and it has a banging noise coming from it.. when you come on boost and the car starts to pull properly it bangs like its taken some slack up.. driving normally round town has no bang.. ive removed my solid beam mounts which has made the bang quiter as i thought it was the beam moving at first. it does the clunking on tight bends which im not bothered about just wondered if anyone had any advice on this.. i did buy it s/h but looked like it had never been used inside or ever had oil in before.. ive got castrol saf-xj 75 / 140 fully synthetic oil in it..?
thanks for any advice..

if it was a banging noise coming from the diff it would only be a back lash problem due to worn diff bearings or the pinion moving about due to worn pinion bearings (or bearing adjustment to lose) and would do it when ever you take up drive i carnt see it being the diff if it only dose it when coming on boost have you checked the prop center bearing the prop u/j,s and the diff mount

Mine don't make any banging nosies when coming on boost, it just grinds when turning left and right.

I have 80/140 fully synthetic oil in mine.

Gripper, or plated diffs to be precise have a tendency to make knock and clunk when moving at slow speeds around corners, whether it should do it at high speed in another thing though

hi.. its hard to explain the noise its not a backlash slack type of noise more of a clunk and its only the once so pulling through the gears its only one klunk on initial pull. say open up in 2nd and normal driving no klunk then start to pull harder and it happens then not again until go round a roundabout and pull again.. 1 clunk..
ill look into it more next week but guess it could be cv joint related..
like i say its used to be a bang until i took the solid beam mounts off for poly ones and now a klunk noise... fucking cars doing my head in

Why did you take the solid beam mounts out?

took them out as i thought the noise could have been the beam moving on the mounts as when i jacked the car up i could lift the beam on the mounts.. i know they do this but thought the metal to metal noise was a bit much.. now back to poly mounts and its nicer to drive around these shitty bumpy roads...

My beam doesn't move on the solid mounts :/ I did the same I swapped back to polys but Ive now swapped back to solid ones.

You could also check the diff is still bolted tight in the beam and rear diff bolts

I thought the beam should move on the mounts up and down a bit when off the floor as the mounts are cone shaped and that's why some people use a flat poly rubber between mount and body to minimise the movement. The metal bush don't bolt the beam flush to the body.
Either way it's much nicer back on rubber I'm getting too old for a bumpy car
