if it was a banging noise coming from the diff it would only be a back lash problem due to worn diff bearings or the pinion moving about due to worn pinion bearings (or bearing adjustment to lose) and would do it when ever you take up drive i carnt see it being the diff if it only dose it when coming on boost have you checked the prop center bearing the prop u/j,s and the diff mount
