Default Will Blacktop forged pistons & rods work in a silvertop??

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JE-Forged-...item4aacb698f2

Hi everyone, i'm looking into buying some of these for a turbo build i'm planning.

Found these on ebay from the US at a great price, but then realised they're for a blacktop, i've emailed the company and the guy says he's 99% sure they'll work in a silvertop as the rod length differences are made up by the piston pin location, but asked me to do some more research to double check this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as i'd love to bag these at this price

Cheers

yes they'll work.
the difference between the silvertop and blacktop is in rod and piston height.
the silvertop had shorter pistons but longer pistons.
the blacktop had longer rods but shorter pistons.

overall they work out the same length and both use the same cranks and bore etc.
it has been known to use silvertop rods and blacktop pistons to lower compression for tight ass builds
as for price, that's not bad i used a company called race engineering who sorted out custom sized pistons and eagle rods, arp rod bolts as standard in rods, and main and big end shells for Ł650 delivered (Ł140 customs on top may i add).
remember customs, lucky if they don't sting you, plus the handling charge from courier.

the comp ratios seem a bit high for turbo application to me

I would probably like to see nearer 8 to 8.5cr. You could look in to a multi layered steel head gasket to see if the would help.

i'll find out if they do them with lower ratios first, i'd be surprised if the ones on the list are the only ones they do.... (fingers crossed)

That's a nice price like. How much is it on duty for this sort of thing from the states?

duty will be 20%, customs will sting you for them no doubt.
if you contact the company they should be able to get JE to make the pistons at a lower comp ratio.
the ones i got made were wiseco, and took five weeks to be made and delivered
