just repaired a volkswagon polo for the wife and insurance companies not interested [cat c] and before u start i know its not a ford lol anyone know a insurance company that arent scared
as its a cat c this means the car has been paid out already, insurance companies therfore look at the car as valueless and therefore get funny about them.. try go compare or elephant and see if they'll quote ya..

The only problem is that if you have to claim on the car then they pay you out less,I think it's about 20%?
if a vic was required, which it isn't always on cat c then that would be their only real grounds for refusing insurance.
Go elsewhere, that insurance company aren't worth a wank if they won't insure a car that's been inspected by a government institution and has passed an Mot etc.
why tell em its a write off?
i dont think you need to do you? if its in good roadworth condition it wont matter
ive never told an insurance company and they never give me shit, if it gets hit you get less at the aprasial end of
when i worked at a main dealers and we had 1 in thats been cat'd if they dont check we repair if they do then they write off or owner can pay extra to get fixed via us depending on the quote etc
ive never been asked if its a write off and if you dont get asked you dont need to reply

read your policy very carefully, mine specifically states they will not cover any vehicle that has been written off, cat c or d, and its becoming a lot more common. ignorance is no excuse, and its your legal responsibility to tell them..
been shafted by them in the past so im very careful with them now..

mine doesnt say anything of the sort
ive looks at the last 4 cars too and neither do they nor does it my 2 bikes
my mums xi was a write off and got his when she had it and they paid out, they made an offer and she said no, they found out it was catc so paid out their 1st offer and not more as she wanted
she fixed the car for a few '00 and drove it til i broke it up
also my wifes old escort was catc'd for someone reversing into her and it broke 1 headlamp and scratched bumper (rs/si lamps), same insurer continued to insure her until it was sold off with no hassle
what people 'say' if very different to real life, i repaired them for a main dealer, never did they say 'fook off its a write off' if it was they adjusted pay out to what their standard system dictates ?% or value

My gf's car has been written off three times now, all whilst insured with the same insurer, who aren't at all funny about it, Privilege btw.
Cat C may need a VIC check, this checks the vehicle identity, any MOT is in addition to this.
You are legally obliged to mention ANY material fact, any previous accidents is considered a material fact.
My army mate has just been paid out on his rover, following a own fault bump, wing/light, tca and the insurer withdrew cover until he had it re mot'd, they are entitled to do this, from a safety point of view, as they're covering the risk.
I would phone Chris Clacy at a Plan if I were you.

What, hpi every car you ever drive incase it's a write off?it's impossible!!!you use your mates £500,1993 astra that was written off in 2004 unknowingly cos he's pissed at the pub and, heaven forbid you have a crash and injure someone they won't payout?I'd love to see what the court had to say about that!!!
Very worrying if that's the way things are going,I still can't see how they can justify ignoring a system they created?
Agree with tabetha regarding the Mot thing,it wasn't essential on my mothers car but they did recommend it.they sent her all the docs back as well so the logbook, for now,is unmarked even though it's cat c and requires a vic.
Interesting things are creeping into policies now, mine covers me in any car tpft, but NOT lhd cars/vans etc.
I'm with A Plan/Marker Study.
My policy also states VERY clearly if the car keys were in it at the time of theft with no good reason(theft of keys excluded) they will not pay out, excellent best news I've seen in years imo.
This will stop my money/premium being wasted on a holes who leave the keys in at garages etc, or outside newsagents while they pop in for a paper etc, bout bloody time too.
