Default wobbly drive and steering pull

Hi guys my 05 mondeo st tdci has a strange wobble especially at higher speeds
It's as if the car is dabbling side to side when I'm braking it is darting...just really strange toto drive. i have changed the front two tyres, problem is still there.
The back end is also rather skittish. Seems to be a lot of play. Any help would be really appreciated.

Is it a saloon?

If it is, check the rear subframe mounting bushes, very common problem on all Mondeo saloons of that age.

Its the front bottom arms mate. Over time the rubber bushes split and then become very sloppy so thats why the car is pulling all over the place. Also on the rear you have a frame that has 4 bushes that bolts to the boot floor and these also suffer with splitting and falling out. Both jobs are easy to do if you are handy with your tool box but if not get it booked into a garage.

Hope this helps mate

Front ones aren't too bad. If you've got a garage, then all the better. Make sure that you get the right arms as the ST ones are different.

Just make sure if you're going to do the job yourself, that when you start unbolting things, that the subframe is aligned correctly. Make some marks so that everything goes back as it should do. Also...when doing the final tightenings on all the bolts connecting the lower arms, make sure it's done with the weight of the car on the ground.

As above really, most likely bushes on the suspension getting old and worn or worst case the the actual suspension parts/joints are on the way out. But this is probably unlikely as most suspension bits are pretty strong.

The wobbling could also be down to an unbalanced wheel. A tyre garage can check this for you and put it some weights on the wheels to sort that out.
