Just labour time there.. most garages charge Circa £45/hr... no idea how long the book time is on a CVH engine change though.. are you literally going to be taking the whole engine out.. inc gearbox etc and putting another one in? if so this really wont take very long!

Yeah it will be. I did buy the engine as an XR2i but now im doing without the injection cos then all the fuel lines and pretty much everything except the shell will be taken out!

Didnt realise how much work it involved until i saw everything i had bought so im keeping it carb and ive got that and a manifold off an XR2.

So thats a pretty good deal then is it?

think it'll be more then just a straight swap then, things like radiator ect... need changing to.
best thing to do, is to go down to your local garage and tell them you can supply all the bits for the coversion and how much would they charge to install it.

I was told that one of Stuarts friends of a friend could do it for £250 - reckon thats good?

But Yeah we are both fine. His RS is going well still. Had a bit of a hold on that at the mo though cos we're expecting now. Im three months pregnant!

Hows your car going?

I wouldn't bother personally, cars with engine changes are often more expensive to insure. Better off getting yourself another XR2i or XR2, there's plenty of them around.

Might have to go through with that then.

Ive just had loads of bodywork done and any rust treated so i know its a proper clean little motor now.

Plus all the interior is fitted so its a hell of a lot of effort to get a whole new car for an engine.

Prob is, i cant even keep the one ive got at the moment because theres so much wrong with it!

What have you done to your car then????
