helicoiling

hi,i have stripped the threads for 1 wheelnut on the hub flange on my rst.is it possible to helicoil this?would it be strong enough and be ok to have the bolt removed and put back in often?ta,lee
You wanna put a time sert in there if you know some one with a kit and the right size insert

With using the Timesert kit the last 3 threads are tapers so when you take the wheel off 2/3 times it will be deemed useless.
Also as Matt said, a new hub is cheaper. Even with the new wheel bearing it will only cost the same as the Timesert kit.

i wouldnt worry to much you could helicoil it and it will be fine so long as the other 3 are all good. dont forget some cars come from factory with only 3 bolt wheels, so 3 bolts and a helicoil should be fine

If you do decide to helicoil it use the locking nut on the helicoil one.

i thought it wouldnt be any use.as it happens i have pulled it apart and the flange is fooked,the bearings been run on the shaft so a new hub and bearing it is!
That sad i'd sleep better knowing id sourced a s/h hub than doing any kind of repair...
