Default dvla question?

i'v just got my mondy on the road on fri cos i need it for work on mon, nowi got it insured but they wouldn't fax or email me a copy of the insurance to get it taxed and told me it would take till atleast tuesday to get my policy docs, so i asked a mate with buisness insurance if he could tax it for me he asked for proof of insurance first then agreed.

so they took my logbook and mot got tax but they had to hand over my logbook saying they owned the car to get it taxed, it got signed over there and then so the post office is sending the logbook off for a name change, it's gunna put another 2 owners on the log book so do you think if i phone the DVLA up and explain the situ they might cancel the name swap and save me the extra owners.

makes it worse the doc's actually came through sat morn so didn't even need to go through all this just i listened to the silly bint over the phone

cheers for that "not" even though it only cost me a couple of hundred i'm hoping it'll get sold on for a profit though , only got 66k so alot of life left in it esp with a new clutch, also i dunno how long i'll keep it, it's a nice drive and all but it feels too heavy for my liking might just be the plush suspension though.

well tbh it was me that took it in , and he deffo seemed like he was making a jobs worth i couldn't risk him denying the tax cos of needing it for work so had to just bite the bullet, i think i might try and give them a call i can always send them an email with my policy on to prove there was no foul play and that i was just in need of the tax.

Apart from the two of you conspiring to tax an uninsured car, there needs to be a beneficial interest for insurance to be valid.

If you thought you could use your mates business insurance to cover a car that the company doesn't own, why not just get your mate/mum/uncle/guy in the street to tax it?

but it was insured read the post properly i was just in the need to get tax and needed the documents, it was also insured on that day before you say anything else so there was no fraud at all, just the fact if your in need to get things rushed through you stuck cos of the system in place and i needed to get to highgate in london and i'm not walking

and you can't just use anyone cos the car itself needs to be covered and his insurance will cover cars he doesn't own , i just thought they could do it simples but i guess not.

like i'v said there was no foul play so what is your problem, we just used a loop hole to get me mobile, yea ok if i was using it to get tax on a car without insurance but thats not the case they wouldn't send me docs i needed for the car so tried whatever i could to get it.

i see your point but it only has 4, so just looks good when i come to sell it well the bodywork wont sway the deal so it'll have to be the low miles and ownership

If his fleet policy covers cars he doesn't own, the normal procedure is for the policyholder to contact his insurer in advance and give them the details of the car that is to be temporarily covered. With no beneficial interest there probably was no cover under his policy anyway, but your own insurance was in place so that isn't a big issue.

I don't actually have a problem with this but you found and used a loophole that may or may not be legal. If the price of doing that is a couple of extra keepers on the logbook, then that's the price.

you don't ask you don't get.

it maybe be abit of a grey area but i was insured and thats the only reason this system is in place so maybe they might be abit forgiving and save the name change for me, it's worth asking we have not done anything technically illegal, it might just get frowned upon.

if the car was insured and mot'd then you could of just tax'd it online like i do that's why the new mot certificates came in with the barcodes so everything can now be checked online. as long as you are the registered keeper then the disc comes thru a couple of days later but you ARE able to use the car as soon as you've paid for it online. would of saved you a lot of hassle with the logbook

You'll be wasting your time ringing them. To be brutally honest the difference between 4 or 6 owners isn't going to alter the price. Any Mondeo of that age with tatty bodywork is never going to fetch more than Ł500, even if it had one owner!

i no i'v gotta really be good atm though cos of my license i don't want them shafting me for silly things i got done for going through amber in march cos i pissed the coppers off by slamming my brakes on to stop for the next set of lights my brakes where better than theirs and they had paper and everything thrown around the car i knew they hit there anchors cos the hazzards came on .

P.s i got to london and back fine only cost me Ł30 in fuel too about 250 mile round trip, and motorway speeds all the way back , there was traffic on the way there, only the front wheel bearing started creaking a little when i got there i'v gotta change it soon though.

hope your cossy isn't still running out of electric

<<<< genuine tears

cos with food it'll be more expensive finding somewhere to stay than the petrol traveling, i'm sharing the fuel bill atm and with digs we'd be hard pushed to find somewhere for the 2 of us for under Ł30 a night, plus i'm still with mommy so the food fairy fills the fridge , once we get over this month and get paid we'll find a room to let or something cos it'll be the cheapest option, just the half 4 morning starts are a bit of a killer atm, also next week we'll do longer days so we don't have to work fri so that'll help alot.

and yea i don't like doing bearing i have nothing to push them out so i'v brought a complete hub for the drivers side from the scrappers and kept the old one to let someone else put the bearing in gotta do the passenger side now though cos when i pulled the drivers one off it was really stiff and that can't be good .

the joys of motoring Ay!!

yea if she has kids walk away they have potential to steal the food that she leaves in your fridge , then politely tell her she need to loose some weight and feed her on water, but be careful how you say it cos it's the hardest part of the operation one false move and it'll be like a bomb going off as she slaps your face with her big fat hand and walks out, the food fairy will leave with her , hope you all the best with your conquest

if your mate had the small green bit of the log book and not the full log book the post office would not have taken the full log book, their procedure is to take a full logbook thats not in the person taxing the car's name and address.

next time just send your mate in with buisness insurance and the green bit and mot if applicable and kep fucking shtum if the postie asks if you just bought it and say yeah.

them green bits can be tippexed over and used again legally and i have done this so i know it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
