Default I hate the cliquiness on here

I use many car forums but this place really does have a clique and if you aren't in it you get ignored and it's not a friendly forum unless you are in the in crowd I like Passionford and the people on here but because none of my mates drive Ford's I don't get to the shows and I find myself out of it on here and I find it so frustrating.

For example I have issues with the new clutch on my cossie with it slipping, brand new Ford clutch and it slips Tonight I asked if people if they have any experience of the group N clutch and got no replies, if that was any other forum you'd at least get replies saying "no but try x" but on here you get nothing I really wish this place wasn't as cliquey and the members were more interested in Ford's, it seems that most members are here slate Ford's and there is also a snobby attitude towards any Ford that isn't a Cosworth.

I don't mean this to cause any offence but we are all car enthusiasts at the end of the day so please please treat each other this way.

In this one but it was ignored and sadly I didn't buy the clutch because of it Between Ford selling shite parts and the response you get on here it's little wonder I'm looking at breaking my Cosworth and selling my ST to buy an M3

I've always been a Ford man but I am fed up of the dealers ripping me off with shite parts that I have had enough

You are right mate. It's full of arse lickers and this is the problem. You disagree with one of the in crowd and everyone will lynch you in the hope of gaining some respect from them. I mean, if someone from the in crowd asked if anyone knew were to buy a poop scoop, there would be members offering to go round and pick the shit up for them.

Another great example is if you aren't known and was to post up you was done for speeding, everyone would tell you to take it like a man and not to speed. If you can't do the crime Etc. But if one of the in crowd posted up and said they murdered thier neighbour, people would be offering to help hide the body and telling them how badly they've been treated.

It's the way PF is and always will be. It's a shame but it will never change. I don't help much because I am not that knowledgable, but if I can help I will, regardless.

Sadly I don't know that one, ask me what offset for a Subaru wheel and I'd be able to tell you and maybe that's the problem. I know Subaru owners and their cars get slated but they help each other out.

I learned so much about Subaru's whilst I was into them but since I've owned my Cosworth I haven't learned anywhere near as much because people keep their opinions/information to themselves with a few exceptions.

Spot on Benni

miller 3,

Car is a stage 3 2 wheel drive on a T34.48 with dark greens and one of Stu's chips. It had a standard clutch in it that was great and it drove really nice but the rear crank oil seal went so it contaminated the clutch I had a new rear crank seal fitted, flywheel skimmed and a new Ford AP clutch but on my first drive the clutch slipped as soon as it was warm and came on boost in 3rd gear I asked if it needs bedding in (may be the case) and did get some good advice but I would have liked more really,

Tonight I asked if anyone knew anything about AP group N clutches but that may be my fault for not starting a new thread. There is an issue with the way we are on here and I'd like to see that changed.

I've been in with the clique on a couple of forums and always been aware of it and pushed to make all users welcome and helped wherever possible I'd like to see that on here because we have some great guys on here.

Sadly you're very much correct mate.....always has been cliquey on here! No different when you reply to a thread, unless you're part of the 'in' crowd invarably people look past your answers and assume you can't possibly know anything lol! As with any forum there's plenty of helpful people on here if they want to help, i do wonder why some people come on a public forum that's supposed to be for enthusiasts with such secretive attitudes.

I'm not in the in crowd and someone answered about my question about bricks.

Have you ever thought that maybe your question might have been covered before- try using search.

Also with something as simple as a clutch for a cossie, any of the distributors that advertise in the mags would have been able to advise you on a clutch....

ya know i agree with you. the name of this site is passionford, not passioncosworth.com. don't get me wrong i love cosworths and would love a sapphire cossie and i love to see the threads photographing rebiulds but i put up a thread with somethin about my granada 24v an sometimes i get sarcy replies because it aint a sierra or escort, i bloody hate escorts but some of them have been done to such a standard on here i leave comments saying how nice they look, not comments saying 'its an escort ring the scrapman. however, i do have to say i have had a good amount of help with most problems or help potential work ive wanted to do to my car. the majority of people on here are fine an helpfull but there is a select few that just seem to want to annoy people. thanks for putting this thread up, its about time someone did

That's exactly where I got caught, I had read that and my clutch was great at 350bhp so I didn't feel the need to search and I bought a shitty new one It's at that point I started asking questions.

It's not just the clutch that's just a good example, there was a thread a few months ago about Time Attack where Lee (Porkie) said he was going to do a couple of rounds (and should have been against me to a point) I replied saying I was doing the same rounds but everyone kissed Lee's arse but they weren't bothered that I was doing it.

At Silverstone I did fucking well considering what I was driving and the little time behind the wheel I had, just another example

This is what I was driving, it was a mate's car hence the lack of time behind the wheel and I could only do 3 laps or so at a time due to the catch can empting itself over the windscreen

I don't consider myself in the "in crowed" in any way. I've met quite a lot of people off here and the RSOC BB over the years, but only a small few of them would I consider actual friends that I speak to and see on a fairly regular basis.

As such, it's these people that I reply to in threads first, as they are people I know. I think a bunch of people here know a bunch of people here really well, and are friends, and also reply first to each other and this is where the image of the clique comes from.

Granted, I will agree that it isn't quite as full of readily helpful members that it used to be some years ago and many "old faces" have disappeared and people have moved on.

But I think a lot of it has to do with "friends rings" within a community. I mean, you don't just start talking to random people in the street do you? No, you talk to people you know. Same thing here. The beauty, however, of forums is that you can also converse with people you don't know.

I for one, if I can give advice or input on a subject, I will. But if I can't or don't know, then I won't say anything, which I don't see as unreasonable.

I also belive that in building a "community" you need to input into it aswell - both in help/advice etc, but also in personality. You don't become part of the furniture or a face without putting in any effort (let me just outline I am not talking about any member or person in particular, I am generalising)

I'm not the most outgoing person in the world, but I talk to a lot of people, and get involved here and there and for me, it's paid off. Like I said, I've met a lot and only consider a few as friends, but those I do consider friends, are people that I REALLY do see as friends (if that makes any sense )

Completely understand that and while I realise that I haven't made myself known by being controversial I comment and help wherever I can

It seems that make a name for yourself you have to shout loud but that isn't me, I'm a quiet nice guy who is helpful where I can be, that doesn't always work though does it

Most of the time I post what I like, put my opinion across, make jokes/sarky comments etc... I dont really care if people enjoy my posts, but if I feel like I can add something to a discussion or help and share a bit of knowledge then I will.

I've thought before that the sarky comment thing is a good indicator, some members will seemingly piss themselves laughing at average comments made by 'in-crowders' to win favor and be accepted into the circle of trust, but other sometimes funnier comments by random members here and there are just passed by.

Its kinda sad, but at the end of the day, this is the internet.

Cheers,
Grant

I know but let's change that instead of accepting it At the end of the day we are all car enthusiasts and I wish we could get on that way, there is too much negativity towards Ford's and Cosworths for my liking and that isn't pointing a finger at you

I had the pleasure of scooby ownership for 6months and TBH the people on scoobynet were absolute legends!

I've always been a ford fan, as has all my family, but I can honestly say I learned soooo much about scoobs in that short time and it was all down to knowlegable, helpfull and friendly people on that forum

I love fords and wont be getting rid of my cossie in a hurry, and I really like passion ford BUT I have to agree, SOME (not all) people on here are less than friendly or helpfull

Not loud - just often I find...

I know most by the frequency they post here. If you only post a few times a month then you are going to be less known than someone that posts several times a day... There are some exceptions to the rule, and I will agree that some of those are people that are "known of" within the Ford scene/community (you could say they are the ones that some people do arselick in the hope they will get to the elevated status they belive this person/persons to be in), but generally people are known for either what they put in - beit tech advice, comedy, etc - or for the amount they are here, just posting, taking, interacting etc....

you will find most of teh in crowd lick wwach others arses anyhow

i hardly post on here anymore, dont even browse that often, just come into to look at restos etc and parts for sale

there was a post about a evo and cossie racing, i had a stupid reply from someone telling me i have a xr4x4 with a rouse kit in my sig, i couldnt understand whats he was trying to imply, so kindly informed him that it was a xr4x4 with rouse kit and rouse style interior with a full cossie yb running gear, and i now own a escos, i never got a reply from him i think he was trying to make me look small becuase he had a escos in his sig so thought becuase i had a xr4x4 in mine he thought he was better than me, thats the impression i got

paul you have me on msn your more than welcome to ask any questions as i can quite happily help you out as ive been there before and i do know something about cossies lol

fuk the in crowd, no point getting wound up about it, its been like this for years on here now, if you havnt got a bmw or evo no one is interested anymore

they should change the site tbh, as its not passionford anymore, not even ford related hardly anymore

This place has always been "cliquey"...someone from "the crowd" could post a picture of thier latest turd and thier would be replies like" man thats awesome, can we have some more pics"...or" i'd love one of those"
I sussed this place out for what it is a long time ago,and hence don't give a shit, and you shouldn't either...its only a forum at the end of the day!!

It does make me laugh at the importance this site thinks it commands,be it from the mods or owners....i used to be a mod for my mate who designed and hosted websites for major recording artists, they got more hits in a day then this place would do in a month(if that) and there was no cliqueyness or Gestapo moderating from any of the mods, and they had far more to lose than this place,in every aspect

At the end of the day, just take from this site what you can,and don't get upset if you don't get a reply from one of your posts.

Paul
Sorry dude but its taken you 5 years to work that out!!!

Dont worry about it as its only a car forum matey....to many brown noses and bum love etc.

Tonight I asked if anyone knew anything about AP group N clutches but that may be my fault for not starting a new thread. There is an issue with the way we are on here and I'd like to see that changed.

I've been in with the clique on a couple of forums and always been aware of it and pushed to make all users welcome and helped wherever possible I'd like to see that on here because we have some great guys on here.

im not on here as much now days as i feel it has changed alot lately.originally i wasnt known at all but as i talk to anyone and everyone i just crept in by posting on different threads,to start with there werent replies but eventually people were replying ,maybe as they got used to seeing my name alot.but i do know alot of ford owners and have for a while even beofre i got the net.

as for the clutch, ive had an issue in the past with a genuine ford one i bought.the one in the car was fine for a while but had lots of miles on it,i upped the bhp to 350 on a 4wd and after 3 months of abuse it slipped.so bought a new one from ford.this slipped staright away so took it back, got another and that put up with stick and santa pod for years after

tbh the organic ap should be fine for what you want if you dont want a paddle

It pays to remember this is an internet Forum its 1% content & 99% shite.
I would never seek advice on technical matters from an open Forum, it soon becomes clear which Tuners know their stuff, contact them via phone or PM.

What Bullet said!

Mine is a 4wd sapphire with a T34 0.63A/R on 803's, was fine for a while on the original 110,000 mile clutch but eventually it started slipping. I was told that the clutches Ford now supply are not up to the job (IIRC I think it was the cover plate).

I was advised to use the AP Organic, put one in, had the flywheel skimmed, fitted a new cable and it's spot on. A bit grabbier than standard and a bit heavier too but generally it's fine

Rainbird supplied mine, he's always spot on with delivery, price and service, give him a call

Neil.
