A question for people who have coded injectors before TDCI....
Hi guys. I had a fault code come up on my 2003 TDCi Mondeo of P2337 (knock on cylinder 2). Have done loads of research and have been told multiple times; 'Injector needs recoding'.
I bought the Mobydic Formidable so i could program the injectors myself and all seem to have been done according to the program that states 'injector programming finished'. Unfortunately I have to take the softwares word for it as It's an 03 so I cant read the codes.
Unfortunately It wouldnt clear the DCT and was still runnig rough so I went and purchased a re-con injector and changed it. Again re-coded etc and still same thing. Therefore I thought OK maybe its another cylinder so I began to swap them around and re-coded to the position of the injectors. i have been coding as such so please confirm this is right -->
Cylinder 1 = Injector 1
Cylinder 2 = Injector 3
Cylinder 3 = Injector 4
Cylinder 4 = Injector 2
So after all of this still no luck.
*The car starts on the key first time.....
*Idles pretty good but a little lumpy.....
*When trying to rev up it coughs and splutters and takes several seconds and plooms white smoke from exhaust.....
*From about 2500 revs it will rev right up and you wouldn't know there was anything wrong. No misfire etc.....
I have been advised that after recoding I will still have management light etc until I take it for a 5 mile drive as the injectors run without pilot but it does feel to me that the car is not right! After chaging around the injectors still same fault code aswell.
Therefore that is the reason for this post. I would like to know if anyone has had this problem and recoded there injectors, if they could possibly advise.
Did you have same symptoms? Did your car run this rough after recoding? Did a drive sort it etc? What sort of drive is needed? Can I just drive up and down cul-de-sac in 2nd gear or do I need to give it some up to 5th. i have a roundabout at the end of my road and don't fancy pulling out with it spluttering everywhere. Otherwise it will be an early hours of morning test drive haha
Many thanks in advance
Ben

I know two people, one with an 03 and one with an 06 who have spent £1500 plus on having their injectors changed as they had really bad running problems due to blocked injectors. The TDCI's are prone for it apparently.

Yeah like so you its common which is why i bought the software. Although the injectors our pricey I think its the coding that is the main charge from garages. Chances are I have probably sorted the problem but hoping someone else will say yeah thats normal haha.
No doubt they will say sounds buggered Just my luck. Thanks for the info anyway

Yeah but the one that was faulty is now changed but still same problem and DCT. Surely DCT would change if another one went. Thanks

I might be wrong but is the firing order not 1-3-4-2 therefore you should be coding the injectors like this :
Cylinder 1 = Injector 1
Cylinder 2 = Injector 4
Cylinder 3 = Injector 2
Cylinder 4 = Injector 3
not like this
Cylinder 1 = Injector 1
Cylinder 2 = Injector 3
Cylinder 3 = Injector 4
Cylinder 4 = Injector 2
Also if you have an older version of mobydic you have to clear the codes in the Transit option as the Mondeo option wont clear them.
When you have coded them let the car tick over for 5 mins then take it for about a 5 mile drive.
Cylinder 1 = Injector 1
Cylinder 2 = Injector 4
Cylinder 3 = Injector 2
Cylinder 4 = Injector 3
not like this
Cylinder 1 = Injector 1
Cylinder 2 = Injector 3

Actually its quite common for them to lose there codes mate, ford have even released a software update for the ICM to try and stop this happening. But as you say a recode aint going to fix a fucked injector but its worth a try before splashing out.

Ok thanks guys! Once recoded should it be holding back like really struggling to rev up and lots of White smoke too! Don't know if this is normal or it's really struggling. I notice that everytime I let off the gas there's like a buzzing/beeping from under bonnet until it idles.
Cars sounds right as rain when started but drops to about 800rpm then just runs lumpy

had to put a set of injectors in the 05 mondeo 155, and to calibrate them all you had to do if follow a set of instructions like, rev it to 2500 and hold for 5 minutes, then turn ignition off, wait one minute and repeat so many times
some thing like that !!
the other 03 mondeo 130hp version had the injectors lost their codes, we had someone come out and re code them ! had to do it twice within one week but now its perfect and bloody flies !!
hopefuly you wont need a set of injectors
let us know how you get on
