Central heating/boiler problem!!, Help!
Right, odd one this!
Its a worcester combi-boiler.
The little gauge that tells you the pressure of the rads keeps going up past 4bar (should normally be 1-2bar) so you have to drain about a litre out the rads. This happens over about 3-4 days. Its only been doing it the past week or 2.
The pipe to connect the boiler to the water supply is disconnected all the time so cant be going in there!
Any plumbers on here!!??

Well if there is no water going into the system............there is 2 outcomes.
1-The gauge is fucked
Or
2-The water is finding its way into the heating system via the hot water side....which i am not 100% sure it can as they are 2 seperate systems.
I would test the gauge first......or even fit a auxillery one on the flow pipe. That way you will see the pressure iin the heating system.
If you dont release the pressure, does it fire the Blow off valve and empty itself???

Could possible need the expansion vessel re-charging as this can sometimes make the pressure creep up.........
The red expansion vessel has a valve on it that you connect a foot pump/bike pump to. Make sure it is reading 1.5 bar.........if it isnt, pump it up to this pressure. That may fix the issue

I will try and make it easier for you Neil.......lol
If you turn the boiler off, then remove the front cover.....usually a few screws.........
You will see a red vessel at the back i think it is......this is the expension vessel.
On it will be like a tyre valve that you use to blow the tyre up with. Stick a pump or gauge on it and see what it is reading. It should be 1.5bar........

I'm not taking the covers off mate, i will almost certainly kill myself!
AS above mate.
will be your plate heat exchanged pinholed internally. could only be a vessel fault if you have been running your heating but i doubt it at the moment.
this is becoming quite common at the moment due to sludge build up in the system. a good product to add while your changing it is a magnaclean. They are brilliant and will help stop it happenning again.
hope this helps

More than likely the little pipe feeding the expansion vessel is blocked or as said above the vessel has lost its charge, So just needs draining down and expansion vessel pipe removing and cleaning and vessel pressure checking But deffo get an engineer to do it thx Jon
Funnily enough Neil....i had a call out yesterday for the exact same thing as yours......And like i said in my earlier post, It was the expension vessel needed recharging....
I charged them Ł50..............
