Hi all,
Im new to passion ford but im on another couple of ford forums.
hopefully someone can help me. I have a mk 5 fiesta zetec-s and it needs a new engine! the places that i have phoned are having trouble getting hold of an engine and 1 can't get the code from ford at all! he said that ford dont keep a record of what engines types are put into what cars, he has the chassis number etc so whats going on there?
he has asked me to have a look myself and try to get a code for him. I really need the car back on the road for work purposes.
anyone think of somewhere to look other than a scrapyard for an engine? I'm in Scotland and could travel pretty much anywhere in scotland to get 1.

You can get the engine out of any Zetec S but they wont be many about, have a look for one out of a MK1 focus, just ask for a 1.6 Zetec SE excatly the same engine.
If you fit a 1.7 out of a Puma you need to change the loom ECU and a few other things. The SE out of a focus is excatly the same engine and you wont have to change anything else, apart from the Drive belt as the Crank pulley is slightly bigger on the focus.

thanks for the advice guys, might need to get the focus engine into it.
i was thinking about the puma engine as an alternative to be honest.
This has probably been covered loads of times already but i've never had to contemplate anything like this before but, my only concern with that would be, what do i have to do in terms of insurance and the DVLA and so on with the engine being changed?

You'd have to send off the log book for the engine change. I'd recommend calling your insurance company before you fit a 1.7 just to make sure they will accept the modification and to see if it will make a difference to what you pay. Adrian Flux are pretty good for mods.
