Default Can you put a smaller cc engine into a car to lower your insurance

hi there to everyone

this might sound like a dump question but i must ask as i realy like this car ive found but the engine is two big

i have found a perfect fiesta for me but the engine is a 1,6, could i put a 1.1 engine into the car and declare it to the insurance company and get insurance insurance prices for a 1.1, as im only 17 so anything over 1.3 they shun at and wont insure me for cheap

to everyne that can help me thanks in advance

But in the case of putting a 2.3 galaxy engine into the RS2000 it may lower the insurance as the Galaxy is in a lower group!

Though a lot may depend on your age/indsurer etc etc

I found it cheaper @ 18 just passed to insure a 1.6 Focus Zetec than a 1.4 Fiesta Si (the one with the big rounded bumpers).

get a fez 1.25 16v, cheap insurance, but pretty responsive throaty little lump, and certainly a LOT better than a 1.3 clackerbox fez.

MK4s are cheap as, and mk5's aren't to bad either

Whiles we're on the subject of insurance, I get fucking pissed off with those robbing bastards. If you were to put bigger brakes on your car to stop you from having an accident they will just twist it round and say that you've now tamperd and modified your brakes so they can take more money off you. One thing Ive learned in the few years Ive been driving is your always gonna get fucked over!!!

Well you can look at that two different ways. Yes your brakes would be better and you could argue that its for safety, but 99% of people are putting bigger brakes on becasue they are driving quicker/faster, and the insurance companies obviously know this too.

Yer I suppose that is usually the way but they should look more at the person/car not the type. Not all under 21's are boy racers and just because you want more powerfull brakes doesnt mean you've got a more powerfull engine.
But then again Im turning 21 end of this month and Ill be getting cheaper insurance anyway so I dont care lol

If you go for an older car (maybe mk2) then it will class as a classic car and be cheap.

It's the same when putting a 2.0 Zetec from a Mondeo into a Fiesta Si/XR2i.

I must admit this was fucking years ago, A mate tighter the a whales arse saved and bought a 1600 sport MK11 escort and as we were 18 we fitted a 1300 engine.

you need a engineers report and they did reduce the primium loads.

he saved the engine and once he had 2 years NCB we fitted the 1600 back in.

Theres always a reason why you are adding bigger brakes.
