the galaxy engine and the scorpio engine are the same block, you just need to tap the threads in the block for the different engine mount locations and stuff if you change the orientation ![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
and it's quiet easy to spot as it's got a big 2.3 where the water pump casing is

my personal opinion owning one is that they are a gd car, and no way are they slow, there not the fastest but they are fast in there own way, i can easily get 125mph out of mine and gives the newer cars a run for the money, st170 aint got nothin on the 4x4 nor has the fiesta st, handles very well, can put the power down round corners, yes the running gear aint the best but if you look after them then there is nothing saying that they wont last a long long time, only thing they suffer with like all other fords is the rust issue, they could of done with looking a bit sportier coming off the production line but all in all i think there a gd car, being all 500 ever built i think its worthwhile having one as they are very rare and to restore one and have them sitting they will become a collectors, could be wrong but i think the rs2000 4x4 is all in all a very good car

pmsl you havent a clue about the 2.3 convertion but Ive seen you discuss it countless times on here over the last year and a few times you've been prooved to have incorrect knowledge.
if you strap a standard 2.3 in an RS you'll get fuck all more than 160 and a little torque if your lucky
what the ever so knowledgable dojj fella seem to neglect to tell people is that there are a 100 differant variant to the convertion whitch I cant be arsed to go into now
if you wish to see how these convertions are done correctly visit www.RS2000-16v.com

i wasnt going to reply on this thread as its just one of many pf threads slagging the rs2000's off, only this time its the 4x4.
the 4x4 in my eyes ( i own one btw, not like many of the haters who havent even driven an rs2k ) is a fantastic car. its not the quickest out there but it more than makes up for it in the fun department. i know for a fact that it would piss on alot of higher powered turbo cars through the bends and round abouts. wheres the fun in straight line speed, its adrrenaline rushs you get going round bends at crazy speeds which the 4x4 gives. the transfere box isnt that weak but it wont hold up if your launching the car hard from standstill.
its a complete waste of time asking on here if its a good car as the people that answer are mostly uninformd idiot know it alls. go and see the car and take it for a test drive and make your own mind up 1st hand. thats the best advice i think you will recieve on here

I own a 2wd RS and yes the insurance is a bit mad but in fairness it still stands its ground against the more modern crap out there.
And alot seem to forget that its quite a unique engine. I know its only the sierra I4 with 8 more valves but still with the right mods they perform well and don't always have to break the bank as some may think.
Check out the powermax engineering sierra 3dr. No YB in there but a 2.3 I4 turbo! Ave it!

![Confused](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)
and why would ford contemplate producing 2 different castings for fwd and rwd mountings?
unfortuanatly for you, i know people who have done the galaxy and scorpio conversions in a sierra so it does work
and how can you put 100 different versions of the same engine into different cars? are you trying to tell me that there are over 100 different 2.3 rs2000 conversions ALL using different instals when the only differences are bigger holes in the block for the capacity and the addition of balancer shafts to the 2.3?
if you can't be arsed then fair enough, but this seems to back up most of what i've said
it's about this time in the post you should be getting one of these

as long as the anti freeze ratio isn't as stonrg as 50% worth of antifreeze then there aren't any problems, but you also need to get the diesel fan switch (so guess who found that one out for the masses, yes, same old dojj way way back in 1996)

Dojj.... your not even reading it right....
there's a 100 ways of going about the conversion.....
your saying other motor mounts.... get your facts straight....
wait a few months... then I'll have an RS2000 ready to stomp any standard cossie... without using a YB....

I have only known of one locally that my mate put and engine in for the owner. I went with him on a test drive with him and I was very impressed. I would be an ideal every day car.
Im currently trying to pursuade the owner it is worth nothing so I can buy it off him.

I would like one just as its rare.
seen a low boost 2.0 turbo one and it was only just over 200bhp the 4x4 system was fine.
and it went well, not hair on fire stuff, but well

Diesel fan switch, what a load of old wank. Perhaps you meant the cossie fan switch that kicks your fan in at a lower temp. Standard stat over here and no overheating problems to date.

The rs2000 4x4 is under rated, all you cosworth boys would have different views if it had a turbo strapped to it, due to the fact that it would give your car a run for its money, remove turbos from your cars and where would you lot be, it has a RS badge fitted to it so they are different from the rest of the standard ford breed, For all those that slate the rs2k can carry on, we use our cars daily without worrying of something going wrong, turbo failing etc we carry on all weather round. The 4x4 is a great handling car and isnt much slower then the 2wd version, as said before its not all about straight line speed, its all about going round the corners, and im sure that the rs2k 4x4 would beat a rwd saph round the bends at speed with out losing any traction

The Ecos fan switch does fit as I have one fitted, along with a lower opening temp stat and a small turbo Ecos fuel pressure regulator ![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
The usual route for the 2.3 into the rs2k is the galaxy/scorpio bottom end coupled with the RS's head to give a higher compression, roughly 11-1. You also need the RS's sump and main bearing cap bolts as there is a windage try that attaches to them, and the front half moon seal cap thingy.
If you use the scorpio block the oil dipstick hole needs to be re-located and the old one filled, also as DOJJ says you'll need to re-tap the fwd engine mount holes.
A 2.3 in the 4x4 is the best thing you can do to it imho and will totally transform the car, and with a 60/40 split biased to the rear it can power oversteer, which is no bad thing![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
The only other issue with the 2.3 conversion is the fuelling. Some people run a small ecos fpr to help the injector get more fuel in, but for total peace of mind a mappable ecu would be advisable.
At the end of the day its your car, and if you enjoy it who cares what other people think? We cant all love the same thing, but I try not to slag off or criticise other peoples choice of car, as long as there happy so am I![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Forgot to mention that you also take out the and lose balancer shafts!!

Another bit of info has just entered my head, according to Grahame Robson, im sure it was he who wrote this, the 2.3 was developed by Cosworth for Ford, so Hows about putting an all steel turbo'd 2.3 I4 into a Cossy powered Sierra?
One has been done that made 300bhp at 12psi that had more potential.
Would it be accepted as a Cosworth engine, I very much doubt it, but its a thought

check the RS2000 Arse lickers ''cars daily without worrying of something going wrong, turbo failing etc we carry on all weather round'' blah blah blah!
actually funny lol
Can't believe you arse lickers, slagging off Cossie's & shit, remember the only reason you drive one an RS2000 (mk5/6) as you can't afford a fucking real RS like a cossie LOL

I have fuck all against Cosworths, I owned a few but broke more than Id like to admitt also.
As for not owning one now isnt about the cash fella, I have speant more on my F2 RS2000 than half people here have on Cosworths.
The only issue I had with this thread is Dojj acting as if he knows it all when he so clearly doesnt.
